My Twitching Comes and Goes

Ok, so my twitching comes and goes in different places which drives me nuts. If it was in just one or two places, then I could say "oh...there's that twitch again". What gets me is how I can have buzzing in my feet for three weeks straight (along with smaller fasics in other muscles that aren't so bothersome), then my feet will be totally fine. A few weeks later, I get constant twitching in my right quadricep....a few weeks later, it's my left hand. Why does this thing jump all over the place??

The other patterns I notice are: I get much worse the week right after my period. (hormones???).

The twitching is always worse when I'm stressed, when I don't get good sleep, and after a night of drinking more than 1-2 glasses of alcohol.

I DO notice that on nights where I sleep soundly through the night and have deep dreams...I wake up feeling great with very few fasic (if any at all) the next day. (I've actually thought about trying to take Tylenol PM or Ambien for a week or so, simply to see if that many consecutive nights of sound sleep would keep making a difference).

Have you all already discussed patterns of when BFS is worst?

Any theories on why it affects different muscles at different times?

Thanks for your info...

OH. NOOOOOO!!! Wanna trade? My twitching is almost exclusively in my left calf and it scares me to death. If I would start twitching somewhere else, I would be sooo relieved and I would know it is BFS for sure!

However, I do have some random twitches elsewhere -- right calf, my hand, both eyes . . . but they are fleeting. The ones in my calf vary from thumpers to rapid fire to ticklish and seem to move about the leg area from calf to behind the knee to ankle, but mostly calf.

My leg also vibrates at night and buzzes at times. Both feet buzz, actually.
I have creepy crawly sensations everywhere.

Mine are worst when I am tired or drink heavily too.

Hi Peg...
Your calf is your current hot spot! It will probably stop and then migrate somewhere new. The fact that you do get fleeting twitches in a few other places makes me certain that you have BFS...nothing else!

My first hot spot was my left foot....buzz buzz buzz for a couple months....and then my right foot. All along I'd get shorter twitches in other spots.

Then, my left quadricep for a couple weeks straight....then onto the right one.

My current hot spot has been between my thumb and index finger...ugh! Drives me nuts, but it is finally subsiding after about three weeks.

Sounds like you definitely have BFS....it just really likes your calf right now. Lots of us get hot-spots EXACTLY like that.

I totally empathize with the 'thump-thump' then 'buzzing' sensations...almost like a butterfly or hummingbird is right under the skin. Relax, and enjoy knowing that we have very similar symptoms and they are benign! Have a good evening :p

great sleep is one of natures best remedy for bfs...and relaxation 2.. on the weekends i feel good ...i mean i twitch but i dont have the buzzing and i sleep well....on workdays being on my feet for 10 hours a day laboring...i find that when i sit down on my breaks or come home ..im pelted by twiching buzzing and tingling in the extreme way....it 730pm the klonopin is kicking in and i feel not buzzing tingling or twitching at the moment....awww the temporary relief....

I have to jump in....Maybe we can market BFS as a Sex Therapy Aide !!!

Quick, let's get the patent on BFS!!!

"It's better than Viagra, It's BFS"
