My Throat Symptoms Since 2013

Ive had weird sensory stuff in the throat area for two years since Jan 2013 intermittenly. Roof of mouth feels like its throbbing or stretching, tonsil pain, throat burning and pain but not while swallowing, sometimes attacks of cheek pain and teeth pain with jaw pain and feeling like someone is pulling my tongue down my throat. I also feel like I am clearing my throat more. It has been suggested it is some type of trigeminal or glossophyrangeal neuralgia, but Im concerned its the "Lead up" to bulbar (is there such a thing as a lead up period of pain/sensory symptoms?)Would classic bulbar symptoms (slurring/speech/swallowing) have presented by now in the two years if this was bulbar related? Also what is the incidence of bulbar- ALS is 2-5 out of 100,000 - how many of those are bulbar? I am a 47 yr old female so this is not out of thr realm of possibility (although not post menopausal). Thanks. I just want to enjoy Christmas without this bull___ again. Its been three Chrstmases in a row.

you should go ahead and enjoy Christmas this year....if you had bulbar onset als, you would have clearly obvious and serious sxs by now. take care,gary

I think you know the answer to the question you are asking. Of course bulbar ALS would have presented by now. At this point your thoughts of bulbar ALS are irrational. Try to meditate or something to relax and take your mind off of it. You're in the same boat as a lot of other people. It is annoying, but not a deadly condition. Perhaps the stress of the holidays is amping up your symptoms. Happy Holidays! Hope you can find some peace with this.

If after 7+- months of tongue symptoms you are able to function clinically normally, then NO Bulbar concerns should be present.

Thanks guys. I know that. I even went back on the "Do I have ALS board last night to ask a question and they literally got so *beep* at me that they closed my thread. The last time I was one was two years ago its not like Ive been clogging up the system with my messages. But I have to give it to them they are brutally honest and really they don't have the time to deal with my irrational irrelevancies. I even had a tongue emg (via chin) when this all started but of course I'm thinking, oh maybe it was too early. Bah humbug ALS. I just hate having unexplained and constant throat symptoms. Going to a cranial nerve specialist for all this facial pain/throat pain in January. I assume if it was bulbar throat thing slurring and swallowing would be an issue. I just need to get the throat clearning thing out of my mind. Enjoy your holidays. So grateful for all of you, really.
