So this is how it all began... one night, almost spontaneously I developed a tremor. It happened in both thighs and drove me absolutely nights...
Thankfully two days into my tremoring I had check up with my neurologist (a check up as he is treating me for chronic migraine)
I passed the exam with flying colours and as I already had an MRI recently to rule out brain tumours, as one would if you had a headache everyday of your life, it was declared that it must be due to anxiety. He whacked me on xanax, did some blood tests and that was that.
This was a fair enough observation... considering I am a 2nd year medical student and I am in the middle of my exams. That was 3 weeks ago. A few days later the tremor subsided but was subsequently replaced by widespread muscle fasciculations. Everywhere below my neck was affected. They came and went intermittently a burst of twitchs in my calve and then some in my biceps... apparently wherever the whim took them!
I then did it. The dumbest possible thing. I googled. Type in the little box "muscle fasciculations". Hit enter.
ALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh god I'm going to die. Tommorrow! I wrote out my will then and there.
But I began to try and reason... I had no weakness. But maybe it was to soon to tell. What if I woke up with weakness tommorrow. And so I have been struggling with this line of thought for about the last 2 weeks.
Then it got worse yesterday... a funny sensation in my throat. Is this the start of swallowing difficulties? So far no speech problems. The fasciculations had actually been getting better as my stress was decreasing... I was getting on top of the *** fear but then all of a sudden a feeling in my throat!
So I wanted to ask about this. Is it possible that *** gives you fasciculations, that then subside. And then give you bulbar symptoms? It seems unlikely but I am finding it hard to be rational. I am only 19, isn't that a touch to young? How does bulbar usually occur? I dont have any difficulty swallowing and my voice is normal. I have had no fasciculations in the bulbar area and my tongue is healthy.
So whats up? Is this globus or a post nasal drip or something? I need some perspective because I seem to see my death in just about everything.
