My Journey With Neurological Symptoms

Not sure why I am even posting this here, as Im not sure what anyone could offer up, but here goes. All my symptoms started on September 27th .... at least that's when everything went from a thumb twitch to an elbow /thumb twitch to a bodywide fasciculation situation. And then that transitioned to including the neuropathy in my foot and then cramping in my left leg. This whole time I thought that was all brand new. As of September. But I was just going through emails I was doing with a friend back in June .... and I was listing "Muscle spasms" as one of my bothersome symptoms, alongside extreme fatigue and crawling sensations all over my body. I remember the bouts of fatigue and crawling sensations. But I don't remember muscle spasms. Yet apparently they were happening months, and months, and months ago. Maybe so sporadic that I didn't pay attention. In any case now I am a bit more concerned. Because I had been attributing this "situation" to my antibiotics in September, and subsequent 3 weeks of sodium and mineral depletion in my diet. Yet apparently this has been a progressing, continually worsening set of symptoms that began in February and now has reached a new low. That concerns me because all my brain can think about is "degenerative" now. In my email I told my friend "Maybe I have a mild form of MS but I don't have the whole neuropathy thing, or stabbing sensations, or numbness". Guess what, now I have had all of that in the last month. Most of you (all of you?) had a fairly quick onset. Apparently I have been degrading slowly since February ... and where I am at today is a continued long term downswing.Granted, it doesnt have to be 'ms' .... it could be this Lyme thing and that bite I got in Feb. It could be toxicity from the harsh meds I took in Feb. But it could also be MS from the stupid hep B vaccine I finished in February too. This blows.

Buckled over with bodywide weakness and fatigue (lasting 1-6 days then going away) while crawling / goosebump sensations come in waves over your body? With zero fasciculations ? Haven't heard that before. Swollen achy feeling armpits that come around the same time. Worsens when in hot temperatures. Those were my only symptoms for several months with maybe a random spasm I barely took note of. It presented like something other than a faciculation syndrome for a long time as fasciculations were not even a significant symptom. The bodywide fadciculations came *8 months* after my other symptoms started. That does not jive with anyone else here.

Burger - I know you're very vigilant about testing, but I can't remember: have you had a head/neck MRI w/ contrast yet? If not, I would recommend one. It will go a long way towards ruling out Multiple Sclerosis / demyelination. Look into it -- and best of luck to you.

MRI of Head, neck, spine all clear. Everything negative across the board. MRI, EMG, and about 30 blood tests. All negative.Except Lyme antibody. Positive twice. But then Western Blot Lyme? Negative.C6 Peptide Lyme Elisa? Negative.ACE Levels: HighIGF-1: HighThose are my only abnormalities.

Collier sometimes everything here is called BFS, no matter what the symptom is. Even if the reality may be that all of us have a very different situation (cause) going on. My statement was in relation to that. I suppose we could just make BFS like the term UFO. Where its used to describe *any* set of symptoms that also include twitching - as long as they have an unknown cause. Unexplained Twitching Syndrome UTS.Or we could use it like "Smurf" LOL

I think what you're describing could well be a post-viral syndrome, such as EBV, followed by a pretty classic presentation of BFS. It wouldn't be unusual for a viral condition to prolong itself and mutate in the body. I had coxsackie B titers off the charts for 4 months, and it's supposed to be a self-limiting, quick-dying virus. Yet, I had chest pain and weird neurologic symptoms for two full years after exposure. Parvo, HSV, HCV, Coxsackie, Influenza; (ha ha- dealing with that particular menace myself, at the moment... :( ) these are just some possible culprits that could initially infect you, then be the "gift" that keeps on giving. Groan. I actually also tested high for parvo at one time, so I've apparently been quite the welcoming vessel for all manner of nasties. Blessings, Sue
