My EMG today

Well, I just guess I never really thought I had ALS, though I did have some concerns about MS. It is not that I didn't give it some thought, but my symptoms are just so weird and diverse.

I'm sure I'll drop dead of something else, but I've always had a cancer phobia. My husband is a doc and he keeps telling me I am way more cancerphobic than the normal person. But really, you hear about cancer way more than NMDs and I'm 55 so I'm not a spring chicken anymore. Also, I stupidly managed to google right into a paraneoplastic article.

My husband thinks I have restless legs and they sure are restless, but it is more because I am driven to near distraction by the twitching and other sensations I feel. I disagree with him since my twitches are not confined to my legs. Getting to sleep is torture and I get through the days by keeping in near constant movement.

I do have hypothyroidism (treated) and a long standing elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) which began shortly after being stricken with a truly mysterious lip inflammation (peeling and severe pain) which began in 1999 and has continued to this day with only a 15 month or so remission at one point.

My post was more to let people who might have concerns about the EMG test itself (I know I did) and to reassure that, at least in my experience, it was pretty easy to go through.

I wonder if I need to ask for this VGKC test?
