Just got off the phone with one of my clients. I hope this post gives you comfort! My client said his dad has ALS, I said WHAT! He is like yes he was diagnosed 2/12 years ago (Aug 2009). I said to my client, sorry to get personal with you but this has been my worste fear for almost that long, it will be 3 years for me in July 1st,2009. I asked him, how did your dad know he had als? He said he was golfing and his left hand wouldn't work. Just one day, LIKE THAT! from there it went down hill, he is still alive but now is on hospiss. I asked him, did your dad ever have muscle twitching, he said NEVER not once even before he was diagnosed NEVER! my heart was pounding, I was waiting for a response of YES. I was so releaved! My client said he went through major worrying of the fact that he could some day get als now, spent time researching ect. One thing he told me is that his dad said he has never had a head concussion. He did work in aviation if that means anything. I feel so much relief talking to this guy! I hope this helps you, if you have any questions please let me know. I asked this guy a ton of questions, TONS. Ashley ( Sorry for the mispelled words, I'm on my I phone LOL)

Classic story denoting the distinct difference between ALS stories and our stories. Thanks for sharing, Ashley, and I'm glad you felt some relief. :)

I agree John!!! Talking with this guy today, showed me we are talking about 2 differents story's completely! I needed a pick me up! now I better go buy a new purse to feel even better lol! ash

omg love u guys! yes how great and amazing of u guys to want to donate! Ok I will get the sight info and post it, I believe it's the actual ALS foundation websight, I will get our team name :) I'm so passionate about this!

Ashley, I am going through the life stopping fear right now and your post did help. If you feel like sharing all the other answers to your questions, I for one, know I would read every word. Thanks for your post!

A couple of things I have to add to the notes is this man who has ALS, ALL symptoms went fast. From the day he couldn't golf, he was put on a ventalator literally the following month. He couldn't swollow within months, my client told me this disease goes fast. The doctors had to rule all other disease's out before being diagnosed! He was sent from a Nuero to a ALS clinic right away after he golfed that day. SO with all of this being said, its clear to me the Dr's know when an als patent walks through the door. There were NO If ands or Buts NOTHING! I don't want to bring the words als to the site, but in all reality this is what we are all worried about! So thats why I wanted to show you, I had a first hand conversation with someone who is living it! There were NO twitching At ALL, NOTHING!

Thanks for sharing Ash. I would love to donate to your cause. I think most all cases of ALS start with weakness, not twitching as we all expect. It's just hard to accept when all the symptoms don't make sense. (thanks for including the part on concussions). :)
