Muscle Twitching, Pelvic Pain

Hello all, I am writting to see if this sounds familiar to you all. To make a long story short my wife has been experienceing muscle jerks and twitching for the past month or so. During this time she had severe pelvic pain which after two procedures we found out it is related to scar tissue from C-section. We thought it was endometryosis (sp?) come back. So the pain starts off and eventually the twitching started, first I thought it was just because of pain in mid section making muscles cramp, but then the jerks came. She has myclonic jerks in shoulders, arms and occasionally legs. They happen all day not just went sleeeping or falling alseep. It kind of looks like shoulder shrug. She was on pain meds for a while (hydrocodone) and cymbalta. Now I read online that cymbalta can cause spasms, but she stop taking it on 5/24 and is still haveing the jerks. We are worried because her aunt had very aggressive form of MS and past away a few years ago. We have a follow up with neuro, she has had an EEG, and MRI scheduled today, so we are waiting to meet with docs to see the results. Has anyone had these?

I do not know if it would help but I have involuntary shrugging since I remember myself, and usually it means I am oppressed, frightening or generally under some very unpleasant conditions. After shrugging I always feel a bit better (less tensed). If your wife has some feelings like that, then probably it is reaction on the strong pain and associated fear. As for medicine induced side effects, you may take into account that some adverse effect would stay for much longer than halflife period. My own twitches, increased under rexetine, decreased to almost zero only 4 weeks after I slowly discontinued 4 or 5 month course...

Thanks for the response. I am hopeing maybe it could be meds related still, but of course I don not know for sure. The jerks are not fear or suprise related, we tried that with my scarying her at one point. I forgot to mention we had an MRI and EMG in september 2011 and they were both normal, she had numbness in hand but would go away when I rubbed her hand so probably a circulation issue. That MRI may be too old to do any good, but at leat gives us a base line.

Well mine are also not realted to instant fear. I have to be tired, depressed, have bad thoughts and GAD bouts and I am shrugging just out of the blue, it is a bit like quick uncontrlolled movement, after which I really fell better. When I notice that is a sign for me to sleep more, take my valeriana pills etc. etc. A bit like ticking issues in people with Turrette syndrome for example - they also feel releived from their constant tensed condition by making stereotype movements or saying stereoptye words :) I never searched specifically for if the similar syndromes could be caused by meds, but I am quite sure it could be caused by strong pain and last quite for long afterwards. If your wife does not have any other neurological issues, especaially deficitive in nature (lack of functions, not hyperfunction), then maybe just give her some time and stay near as you do.being a sympathetic husband means ALOT. You are doing great things supporting her.

Those kind of jerks happened a lot to me in the begginings. Most of all while falling asleep, but also in other relaxed body positions like just sitting on my chair in front of the computer. Myoclonic jerks are part of BFS.Mine were so bad I caused my hubby bruises at night. There are some members here (I remember seventhcande for example) for which the jerks are a far bigger problem than the fasciculations. For my personal impression which I share with some (not all) members on those board and some (again not all) doctors, BFS is a form of Fibromyalgia/CFS with a broader symptom scpectum on the neurological side. Now interesting for you, as I got rid of my BFS seeing a Fibromyalgia specialist, I was told that common triggers for those diseases are virusses, trauma, anxiety or longer periods of pain. Knowing myself the pains of endometriosis/pelvic pain and also been going through an (uncomplicated) C sec, I think that this form of mean pain can very well have been the trigger for this episode, especially in combination with the sleep depriviation after having a baby ( I got my BFS after almost 5 years without sufficient sleep due to my loved little ones....).

Gracely,So far I have not noticed any other neurological issues, I realize I could be wrong but nothing too obvious. No numbness or lack of cordination. She is tired a lot but I think that comes form two months of pain and laying around. When she is tired I do think it gets worse.Chrissi,Thanks for the rsponse, her pain lasted for two months and is still there, post surgery stuff. The twitches started after the pain and I was not worried until they developed into jerks. Mostly in right shoulder, but also in both shoulders both knees (mostly right) and neck. We had an MRI, so I am praying we dont find anything neurodegenrative. The pictures post surgery were cool to look at, you could see the scar tissue pulling on the uterus.

UpdateSo we had an MRI and eeg. Turns out MRI was normal and doc says no MS. So we were relieved for about 2 min. Then we asked him about the hyper active reflexes she had at the last appointment. Doc retested and both her legs or knees and had hyperactive reflexes, so he says we now need a MRI of thoracic spine. He then said it could be a lesion on lower spine because he only used the MRI for brain c-spine. So very frustrated that we didn't do this last time and equally frustrated because he said we were clear for a brief minute. He said that she doesn't have weakness so that is good, but now comes more tests and waiting. Sorry if I sound like I am ranting.

Ive been noticing some jerks in my shoulders/upper arms, whenever I use my computer mouse. Sometimes when I click the mouse with my index or middle finger I notice my shoulder and upper arm will jerk just enough for me to notice it.At first it scared me a little but then I saw some posts here where other BFS sufferers have it. I guess it's part of the BFS experience.
