Muscle Twitching: My Experience

My muscles started twitching about a month and a half ago. I've been trying to "google" for answers/information for about two weeks by typing in "muscle twitching." But it wasn't until yesterday that I typed in “fasciculation” and came across this site and I’m so glad I did. The symptoms of this describe to the letter what I’ve been experiencing. My twitching occurs mainly in my upper legs and upper arms, but at times it can be just about anywhere—calf, lower buttocks area, upper back/shoulder area, abdomen, pectoral muscle behind the breast, chin, and upper lip, just to name a few. This only happens when I’m sitting/standing still or lying down (i.e., only when the muscles are at rest). Movement ability has never been affected for me. The twitching abruptly stops when I move the affected muscle. In my search for answers, I found that apparently this is a positive sign that it is not something serious, like ALS or MS. I’ve been concerned about it possibly being one of those, particularly MS, since I had an aunt to pass away last summer from complications of living with that for 23+ years. I have felt particularly stressed lately-- first with the holidays and then things at the office. I do plan to see a doctor if it does not subside soon, as it has been quite a nuisance during the day and a source of sleep disturbance at night.

Your symptoms sound very much like BFS and I'm sure all of us can relate to them. Having head to toes twitching and sleep issues with this condition is very common. has a description of the symptoms you may want to see. I found it very helpful. Take Care,Sir_Trouserz
