Muscle Tone and Twitching

By "one that doesn't have increased tone", do you mean a muscle that lacks increased tone because it's not contracted (at the moment)? Another possibility is that your muscles might have increased tone for various reasons, not the least of which is anxiety, which is known to cause a "background" increase in resting muscle tone.

Also, twitching in muscles with some increased tone can be OK as well - see the "contraction fasciculations" thread ().

I think I know what you mean by "background" tightness. In times where I overuse a certian muscle it feels tight via sensory, but when I look at it or place my hand there to feel it there is no contracted muscle visible.
From what I have studied, increased tone is very visible and can be felt by touching that muscle.
I did read that post and also visited the teleemg site. I get frustrated on that site because the answers "rarely" match the questions asked or the ones I am most concerned with.
I have gone through a period (several months) where if I were to give a muscle slight effort it would pulsate instead of having a smooth structured movement. At one point during that era I would have the pulsating even under max effort. (I was freeaked) Mostly in the hands/arms, but the freakiest was that if I stuck out my tongue ,it would pulsate on exertion to the right but not to the left. if I held me teeth close together they would chatter. This was the most frustrating time for me because I tried to show this to my Dr's and they looked at me like I was crazy. (sound familiar?)
Since all of that improved I have not given it much thought.
Only a few BFS'ers have reported this to the best of my knowledge.
