Muscle Flexing: Unreliable?

Hi there

Hmm, sounds like your neuro was a complete a***!! Mine was a bit dismissive, but always reassuring.

He should have thought about the mental trauma he would naturally inflict on you by such negative responses.

Listen, I am only 24 and I too have widespread muscle twitching. This twitching varies from flutters, to grapepie, to flinches. The fact you have widespread twitches and the fact that they come in all different shapes and sizes is, in my opinion, reassuring. Also, athough he was an a*** he also said he would be shocked if the outcome was anything serious. Try to focus your mind on that for now, negative thoughts will only make you feel panicked and distressed and your twitches more noticeable.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow, and hoping (as I am sure you are fine) that your EMG is normal.

You know your body, if you don't feel weak then trust your instincts.

Take care, hold on.

I've been twitching and have had brisk reflexes for 3 1/2 years now. My neuro wasn't a bit concerned. Brisk reflexes are common (especially in younger folks) and common for some people all their lives (my GP has a patient in their 70s that he said could kick him across the room)

You say both biceps felt weak? It would be very unusual for BOTH biceps to be weak at the same time for anything sinister - at least from everything I've ever read or heard from doctors.

Let us know how your EMG turns out.
