Migraines: A Monthly Curse

Oh yeah, that sounds like my migraines. They are not just a headache, but an all over malaise. I will barf cyclicly for hours sometimes until I can fall asleep.

Mine are also about once a month. I am more prone to them just before and at the onset of my period. And, alas, any amount of alcohol can bring one on. It is a form of Russian roulette that I no longer care to play, so I'm afraid my beer or glass of wine at the end of the day is a thing of the past.

Imitrex helps sometimes, but at $22 per pill, it can be expensive!! But then again every time I have a migraine I would pay any amount of money to be rid of it. If I have started feeling nauseated, however, I forgo the pill---it will only end up in the toilet.
I truly sympathize.
Best,
Beth

I am a migraine sufferer myself. I haven't thrown up yet, but my stomach is pretty upset. I have gotten the aura before on a few occasions, they consist of black spots on everything, or a bright line in my peripheral vision, with lots of bright colors. Then within 10 minutes the pain starts. I don't get a throbbing pain, its more of a burning, boring pain that lasts for days. It hurts to bend my head forward something terrible. They are hereditary from what I hear. My mom and maternal grandfather have had them all there lives. I just started with mine about 7 years ago, this is when all the other crazy sensations started. Hormones play a definent role in mine. Its awful. Hope you feel better!!!
