Meds for Anxiety and Pregnancy?

Are there meds that you can take for anxiety that will not effect the bady or are they all harmful to the fetus.

On top of all the neck pain, and throat problems, I am two weeks late. I have never been late. This is why I am trying to get off Xanax, I am going to waite the weekend and then get a test.

Hi Kerri.

I have spoken to a girl who was taking zoloft during pregnancy, her Dr. said it was not harmful. Zoloft is an SSRI, not anti-anxiety. Although it sure helps me with mine.

I would check w/ your Dr. though.

Call your OB/gyn and make an appt. today. Ask to speak to the nurse, and ask her what you should do about the Xanax. I am pretty sure it is going to have a Class C rating (or unknown, thus contraindicated), for tetragenics....drugs that can harm a developing fetus. The first trimester is the most critical time in the development of the embryo and then fetus....you don't want to take any chances now.

Go and buy a home pregnancy test. I can tell you from experience though that being two weeks late is almost surely a sign that you are pregnant. So don't put off finding out about the drug, take your folic acid, and don't drink any alcohol.

Being a good mother begins in pregnancy.

no offense but when I was married my ex wife was very often late(2 weeks or more) and luckily she was never pregnant

on the verge of too much info lol its a miracle that she was never pregnant
