Managing Hypothyroidism and Twitches

Hello everyone. My name is Brian. I am 27 in otherwise good health aside from controlled hypothyroidism and a history of anxiety/depression. I've been reading all your posts for a few weeks now while I deal with odd symptoms. About a month and a half ago I started to get an occassional lip and shoulder twitch. A few weeks later the insides of my feet below my ankle(mostly the right foot) started to buzz and twitch which I felt through my shoe particularly when sitting down. Of course I did the old google search which ended up scaring me to death. This lead me to start looking at my tongue and what do you know....one side was much thicker and higher than the other. For the next week I stuck out my tongue so hard and so often (maybe 500 times a day) that I completely changed the shape of it. I actually started to pull it out from the back of my throat. Believe it or not I was thrusting it out so hard that I scarred the underneath of my tongue which is now sore. It seems like when I leave it alone for a day or two it starts to look better.
I visited a neuro who told me I was fine. Not feeling like he took me seriously I insisted on a emg. I had one done on the left side of my body...all clean. When he tried to do my tongue it sounded like crazy static. The neuro told me it was becuase people have trouble holding their tongue still. He decided to go in from under my chin (please tell me if any of you had this done) and it was silent as a bird. A week later (two weeks ago) I started noticing that my twitches were everywhere. Some fine twitches some single thumpers. I also noticed that all of a sudden it felt like my whole right leg (especially calf) had a pulled muscle/almost crampy feeling that affected my walk and hurt to stretch out. So I scheduled another emg with a different doctor to do the left side. My clinical was fine and the emg found a couple twitch spots that sounded like rythmic tic-toc like sounds. These were found in my right leg and foot. He said it was just a couple twitches and everything looked normal...."healthy muscle" he said. I also made him stick the needle under my chin. He did and it was silent.
I don't know why I can't trust that I'm ok.
It maybe mostly because I had a emg done as soon as I noticed the twitching. What if it hasn't manifested yet?
The crampy feeling in my legs has subsided for now. They still feel VERY HEAVY which I guess is different from weak.
Questions:
If I was having stiffness/weakness in the leg that was emg'd and it came out ok should I stop worrying?
If my tongue was atrophying wouldn't the needles under my chin which go up into the tongue muscles show abnormalities?
Has anyone elses progressed this quickly....From a few twitches here and there to almost full body twitches and Buzzing in a couple weeks.
Does anyone else get buzzing that is almost like a pulsing sensation (it's not my heart). I had this in my big toe constantly but has moved to the inside of my right knee and really starts going after I try to run or excercise.

As of today, a month into the symptoms, I have two clean clinicals. Two dx of Benign Fasciculations, clean bloodwork (cpk etc...) but seem to be experiencing more and more of these *beep* things everyday. I still convince myslef that my tongue is not as powerful as itt was the day before. I stopped playing basketball because my calves feel so tired. UGH....please help.
OH! by the way. I had the most horrendous stomach flu ever about a week before this started. Thanks All.

Hey
Sounds like anxiety level is high and the stress level is also high- take some time for yourself- ask the dr about anxiety meds as yu dont need to be obsessing over what the dr has told yu is benign Read BFS in a nutshell and you will get an idea how it all works- pulling on your tounge is not gonna make it feel better by anymeans if anything your gonna end up feeling it moreso than if you had not so quit that- the calf and leg thing is common- believe inyour drs-
Take Care

This sounds almost exactly like the experiences shared by most people of the board. If you haven't read BFS in a nutshell, then you should, as it answers many questions people have. To have a clean EMG on 2 different occasions and no clinical weakness means you don't have ALS, you just don't. Also read the survey in the beginning where people answer questions related to anxiety, etc.
