M. Buccinator Weakness - Eating Woes

Been a while since I posted to this section. During the last week, I noticed I bite my inner cheeks and sometimes lower lip every time I eat. Due to my profession, of course I immediately thought this is m.buccinator weakness (which presents like this). But I can drink using a straw, I can whistle so this is good. But I do not get it, why suddenly I have to pay attention when eating? I have to admit I am quite concerned..I somehow hope I bite it during sleep because of nervousness, leaving then swollen..but I cannot prove that.

Must admit last year when I had a home repair, i was also biting my lip and cheek almost daily. then it resolved.

Dear twitchydoc: I had this often, not every day but often. I think I had this when I am very nervous. It is probably that you have this, becouse you are paying attention on it. You are twitching for a long time now, I have read this, and so I think it is very unlikely to develop bulbar onset or weakness now, after this long time.

You are paying attention on it, because of your profession. I can suggest that you are hypersensitized in respect of possible neurologic symptoms. My neuro, who had done the EMG (emg specialist), told me, that most of his patients, which inquire for an emg examination are neuros, because they know what else can be hidden after the symptoms.

Cheek biting and biting of lips happens for me when I am really stressed then resolves when the stressor resolves. I have actually bit a blood blister in my cheek...only a couple months ago.
