Low Testosterone: GP Results

I remembered someone saying they had low testosterone on here, so I went to my GP and asked for a test. Well. I got the results back today and it was low. I have to have a repeat test and have a second low result before I can get referred to an Endocrinologist.

Hi thereI think low testosteron levels aren't uncommon among us chaps of 'a certain age'! I wonder whether this is a coincidence and perhaps not related to the BFS issue. I'll be interested to hear how the endocrinology appointment goes - all the best for thatRegardsSimon

I'm 36 so shouldnt be that low. It was 8.1 and I was told 10 is the lowest of the start of normal. I dont think it would explain everything going on with me, but low testosterone would explain the generalised weakness and the mood swings I get.

Yeah you're right that 8.1 is a little on the low side and may indeed account fr some of the symptoms you describe. As someone else has said in a post, your endcrinologist might be keen to arrange for a free testosterone, in addition to a total testosterone, along with a couple of other useful blood tests that may help them work out how best ti improve your health - things like SHBG and FAI. It ccurred to me that you could ask someone to arrange these tests before your appointment so that you can get to the bottom of this issue quicker. Hope is all goes ok!RegardsSimon

Well got my second test results back and my testosterone was even lower at 7.4. Interestingly I've said from the start of all this that my symptoms definitely come in waves. Sometimes I dont notice the waves and sometimes I do. I'm no expert but I guess my testosterone levels will fluctuate throughout the day. At the time I had my first T test done I also had blood sent away from Lymes test. I havent had that back yet, but I read earlier that Lymes disease can cause low testosterone. It will be interesting to see what the results are.
