Living with Twitching: What Happened?

One thing to keep in mind is that many people who have had their twitches "disappear" are no longer on the board. They have moved on to other things. So, the answers we give you may be a bit biased because my guess is that most of us that are still posting here are still actively twitching.

That said, my twitches have indeed greatly diminished from when I first started experiencing them. While I still have them every single day, there are some days where I really don't notice them at all.

Reducing my anxiety has helped tremendously. And, although I know it doesn't work for everyone, drinking Gatorade has actually been a great help to me as well.

For what symptoms did you start drinking Gatorade? My calves have been extremely sore for almost two weeks now and I can't attribute the pain to anything I have done (can muscles ache from severe inactivity). I remember my calves aching back in May shortly before the twitching began, but I don't remember them being so sore since then. This seems to be my major issue right now and I would welcome any suggestions. A warm bath, beer and wine were a few of the suggestions that one kind person recommended.

I started drinking Gatorade for my widespread twitches and for slight calf cramps that I would mainly get at night. Both have been helped greatly.

Again, not everyone realizes relief from drinking it, but it may be worth a try. Good luck.

Some people have mentioned taking calcium and magnesium supplements, as well. I'm not sure if these supplements are to reduce twitches, cramps, give strong bones ... I'm willing to try just about anything for this pain to go away. I'm also feeling my anxiety level increase (lump in throat seems to be my indicator) due to this.

I've only been having twitches for about a month, but immediately went to my doctor and then my neurologist. I guess because I'm a nurse, I always immediately think the worst...such as ***. I have already had an EMG and nerve conduction study. My neuro said they were "too normal" and felt it was definitely BFS. I have to go back in one month for follow up and then again in 6 months for another EMG. I am in the process of training for a marathon and have noticed that after my runs the twitches are really bad. I have them all over, all the time. But today, for example, I only ran 4 miles and I've hardly had any at all. I think my twitches decreased immediately after having normal tests done. I'm not sure how much stress and thinking about it increases the twitches, but I think it does have a great deal to do with it. Although I know the symptoms are very real. Mine seemed to come out of nowhere with no known reason. It started with a constant lower lip twitch and then I started noticing them everywhere. The lip no longer twitches, but I notice them everywhere else---some days a lot , some days hardly at all.

After being diagnosed with benign twitching I thought my twitching has decreased but I'm not so sure about that. If I really stop to feel the twitches I believe they are there just as before except I don't notice most of them.
