Living with Twitches and Pains

Hi guys

My name is Steve, i'm 27 & living in Ireland. I've been having lots and lots of twitches (legs, arms & face) & lots of jerkiness through my body, mild tremor along with mild pins & needles in legs and arms & sometimes sharp little pains in my hands & feet . When I say mild i mean they just happen easily the odd time. I have been pretty freaked out for some time but I'm begining to deal with it. I've been to neuro & lots of doctors and so far they dont think its anything serious and are monitoring me (no scan yet though). Ive had no weakness as far as i can remember & I'm still *beep* on the guitar ;) . I have moved home to the west of ireland (aaaah) and left my hectic job in the city. I have also been on ventolin for years which they are weaning me off now which can only be a good thing because its known to cause these types of problems. But at the same time I have been through hell the last 5 months worried about MS ALS etc just like the rest of your have at some time or the other. I'm not out the woods yet but its funny I was explaining my symptoms to my father one day & he pulled up his trouser leg and showed me his "freaky legs".. he's had this for years but just shrugged it off. So that made me feel alot better * of course coming here and reading about BFS... :)

I have one other symptom though that well i dunno wht the hell is going on & dont think that anyone else here has it (havent found it on the forum).. i get stabbing pains in my anus from time to time & sometimes my whole front/lower abdomen/bum areas can get a sudden 'flash' of nerve pain.. thats the scary part because its pretty random.. i've had it standing up, lying down & sitting down. I have had a MRI scan on my back but the doc says i have no damaged nerves ( but i do have degenrative disk disease in my spine) so thats the only niggly thing at the back of my mind.

So anyway i'll stop babbling. Nice to meet you all.

PS. Stop freaking out & do a bit of meditation (it helps me out alot ;))

Was your doctor concerned at all with the "butt" pains? Not to alarm you, but maybe you should have a colonoscopy. Those pains may be something totally different than what is going on with your twitching. Most likely nothing serious, but maybe something more of a stomach/butt issue than a twitching issue. Just a though.

I don't think the 'butt pain' is connected to the twitching, but it is also very common. There are many causes, but it should be checked by a GP to be on the safe side.

Hello!
I am also new here and the whole thing is scary isn't it!
I am hoping the worst is over now and gradually over time it will get better! (wishful thinking!)
This site is very useful!
Have you found that in Ireland anyone really knows much about this problem?
Regards Matt
