Hi All,
i am/was a 24/7 foot and arch twitcher who was in a BAD state of panic for a long time. I wanted to write to let everyone know that i am fine, in great mental health now and that it is possible to beat this fear.
For me it took the birth of my daughter but it showed me that this is a psycological disease. I had every sympptom on this board and as much anxiety as anyone else im sure. It ruined me for 6 months completely.
Here are my top tips
1) focus on someone else and thier well being, whoever it is this may take the emphasis off yourself.
2) exercise alot. Force yourself to excersise, this will give you alot more confidence in your body.
3realise there is a big world out there with millions of healthy people. I think it is amazing how when we spend our time on health forums etc we assume that it is the norm to have ALS or MS. These are rare diseases that affect a TINY % of people.
4) Realise that it really is a disease of weakness not twitching. Dont dwell on the undocumented cases on the net or the ALS forums. Weakness is the key not twitching. A Harley street doctor wouldnt even do an EMG for me and my feet twitched for him to see 24/7. He just laughed and said it didnt fit the pattern of the disease as it starts with weakness.
5) Limit yourself alot to the time you devote to this forum and other health sites.
6) Try this...... Concentrate hard on your right hand, think of it only and nothing else, feel every sensation in it. Do the same with other body parts, just focus solely on one or the other. Notice how you can suddenly feel them more when you think about them.
The same is true of fascics.I used to feel them EVERY DAY non stop until i cured my anxiety. Now they are still there but i dont notice them anymore at all BECAUSE I DONT CARE if they are there or not. As i write this i can feel them which proves the point, i hadnt felt them in 4 months though i know they are still twitching 24/7. Focusing on fascics make them worse. I know you dont want to believe that but its true.
7) If meds are going to calm you, see your doctor.
OK, this isnt supposed to be a lecture i wanted to help because i know how debilating the anxiety is.
CHANGE YOUR LIVES RIGHT NOW.
