Left Hand Thenar Muscle Imbalance

Hi all, Ok I am OVER the speech issue as I am speaking just fine and clear now with NO PROBLEMS. Here is my new thing. I think my left NON DOMINANT THENAR muscle is (on the inside) has a bigger dent then the right one. I just took on this notice a few days ago and I have tried my hardest to see if its just perception, real or normal. Best way to describe it is make the sigh "OK" like if your signing to someone that something is ok... do you see different ripples and dents in each thenar or are they just the same? Why am I even thinking about this @ 11 months into twitching. I am not even twitching there. Its just something I noticed. Is that atrophy? I had a EMG of my whole right side 10 muscles tested and the top of my thenar in right hand at the time of body wide twitching and I even had twitching on the right side in that right hand and it was clear. Is this just my imagination or is something wrong here?Lovely

I think you're fine. Atrophy in neuromuscular diseases, as I understand, seems like it comes from the muscle being without any motor neurons for an extended amount of time. Plus with a clean emg... I think you're in the clear.I actually thought my left hand fingers felt weak last week... So I continually tested their strength for like a day... the next day I could barely move them they were so sore... How dumb am I? haha.. I'm right handed in the first place...and secondly I'm a music major (I play trumpet) and moving the valves on a trumpet is done with the right hand... of course there is going to be a strength difference!

 Now I look out them not in funky positions they basically look the same. I think I am just searching for something lol.See what happens when you have to much time on your hands....literally  Its always my left side when I think I have a problem I guess its because its my non dominant side and ofcourse I have more muscle tone and strength etc on my right side. Dang I am a rocket scientist..Dee Dee

Lovely, I am starting to believe the weakness in my left hand and arm is due to lack of use. Because of pain, in the arm and hand, I use it less, and rely more on my right arm. Also my left thenar muscle is quite different than my right, does not look near as healthy, and it twitches like a mad dog. Super fast fasics, at rest and when flexed, Neurologist who saw it was not impressed.

Tom, I am trying to send you a PM, but I can't get any of my messages to leave my outbox to be sent. Can you send me one, and I will try to reply to it, see if I can get it to go out that way.Terri

Dee Dee.....what are you doing? You don't have ALS. You know that. You have been tested and have lived with these symptoms for a long time now. You are borrowing trouble that never bodes well with your state of mind. LOL. However, that being said, I perhaps am borrowing trouble as well. I have recently heard and read several reports about back pain being an early sign. I have had unexplained back pain for going on 3 months now. It never lets up. So.....could my EMG have been too early in this to catch the problem? I had it 3 months after my symptoms started, or do I have fibromyalgia that affects appx 3-6 million women in the country at any given time? Probably Fibromyalgia but I feel the stress you are putting off. I have it too AGAIN. I have had this for over a year. You'd think I would be showing symptoms wouldn't you besides twitching and pain? Ring in on this and let me know that you are okay....and reassure me that I am as well. Shauna

Sign on to yahoo silly girl. I am about to head off to my kick boxing class but I will save a few minutes for you as I am waiting for cdc's post. Girl...back problems being associated with early signs of ALS..UMMM I have never heard that. Thanks for bringing it up but I watched a special on Fibromyalgia and that disease seems to be taking over BIG time and it involves twitching and roving pain in which I have. You know your ok. Take one of our happy pills with a beer or something and smile  No seriously. Sign on to yahoo real quick.*Im slapping you back into reality with love*.P.S I just got through saying how PEOPLE SHOULD NOT RELATE EVERYTHING TO BFS or ALS. Some things just HAPPEN FOR REASONS AS WE AGE. I broke a nail the other day. Omg, its another bfs symptom. No it isn't I broke a dang nail for not paying attention to what I was doing and now I got to spend 10.00 to fix it lol ;)
