Left Hand Atrophy Worries

I am worrying about atrophy in my left thenar\thumb.Can you see something worrying here?Left hand:Righ hand:I'm twitching since july/august 2013.Im just 21 years old. I have sensory symptoms and aches too. I'm still able to work etc. :pSorry for that :p

Holy cow, where did you see an atrophy? nice bulky thenars, hypermobile thums (aha, one more hypermobile person in our ranks : )ripples you have on the thenar are not atrophy. Good bulk muscle on palm side and top side...Do not be sorry for still being able to work! it is a good sign :)

Thanks for yours replies. Im righthanded Can you tell me something about involuntary toes movements?I have it usually when i drink coffee or some alcohol.

I am by no means an expert, but if you had atrophy in your hands - you would be experiencing weakness in your hands. From what I have read, pain and sensory issues are not part of the big A - you would not be able to move anything.

You and I are on the same boat...I started twitching a few weeks ago -- thought the big A (during down times I still think it but this forum has saved me) the thing is -- im looking at every little thing -- im comparing my hands, my legs, my ankles, my biceps -- im measuring everything, im looking at details to see whats different, im working out way more than i should cause I am trying to prove to myself I am not weak.. But logically -- heres the thing -- the more you look for something - youre bound to find it -- whether its really there or not.I personally dont see any atrophy -- but (and not to add to your anxiety) i feel my hands look atrophied -- but when i take pictures of them, they look fine. So pictures are hard to really tell unless you have a severely atrophied hand. With that said -- atrophy is because the muscles are weak and not being used -- how is your hand dexterity? Remember - its not how it FEELS -- its what you can do -- can you do the same things ? If you can then its not atrophy. If you cant then you should see a doctor.

I checked strength of my left hand a lot of times.I can open a jars by the left hand and other things.I just feel weakness, buzzing and shakiness in my left hand.Im twitching since july 2013.

the movements of toes usually are due to hyperactive nervous system which interpretes any minor signals (each system has its noise) as motor ones.ALS usually starts with more or less rapidly developed weaknes, not with the vivid toesand Piotr, remember that ALS is a disease of FAILING NOT FEELING. Fail to open a jar is a reason to worry, not feeling like you probably may not be avle to open it.

I have a lot of paints. Mostly when my anxiety is high or after workout.I read that a** is painless thats true?I dont want to visit als sites anymore...

It is normal to have pains after workout and it is highly possible that being anxious causes you so much tension that it results in musculosceletal pains. I had such pains in my students years during exams :) mostly in the legs.
