Left Bicep Feeling Ratchety?

Yes I had a lot of muscle ratcheting for months, especially in my arms. I think it was linked to my tremors fot me, but I am not sure. Hmm, I must have lost thus symptom at some point, cannotvremember when though

I've been trying long and hard to find a term to decsribe what I have: trembling, shuddering, shaking, quivering. "Ratcheting" might be another one. Almost all of my muscles are doing it, most especially my quads and my wrist extensors, but only during relaxation, not contraction. I broke my brain and my search engine trying to look it up online because I couldn't find a word for it. Just lately, (I mean today) I've noticed my hands and especially my thumbs visibly shaking as I extend my arms from a tightly flexed position. I think it might be the brachioradialis doing it but I'm not sure. Is this common in BFS?

It took me sometime to find the term “ratcheting” in my searches. This symptom came with the tremors for me. If I close my fist and flex my wrist to move the fist up and down, the muscles in my forearm do that strange “ratcheting”. If I stretch and bend my arm I can see a mild ratcheting of the bicep. It does not bother me now because I know that this is not the cogwheeling sign associated with Parkinson’s. However, the postural tremor is really annoying...

Does anyone have it without flexing or putting pressure? When i'm about to pick up something up or just lightly extending my arm, my bicep will ratchet lately.

Hi Jorge... it is during movement though, I mean when I'm moving my arm to pick up an object, the bicep will "stutter" and my movement is shaky.

A search on here for "ratcheting" brings up 212 separate posts. The word "ratchet;" 44 more. I would say, you are in good company. All BFS, not ONE dx of PD. Hope this helps.Blessings, Sue

Hi im also experiencing this ratcheting vibrating type of movement. It started shortly after I had two vaccines in May 2012. Before I noticed it I had a ton of neurological symptoms. Now I have only the ratcheting, mild muddle spasms all over daily and some mild shoulder arm and leg pains. The ratcheting is in my shoulders my wrists (new) my ankles, my legs and torso. I could do a isometric hold in a partial sit up before without shaking but now my muscles shake line they are exhausted even though I just entered that position. I'm curious if anyone can link their symptoms to specific event?

I can't link mine to a specific event, but it became much worse after a viral infection and some extreme stress. I have the ratcheting and shakiness like you. When I put my body in any tense position, such as sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, etc, it shakes in all of the muscles being stressed. Prior to the twitching I had never had this occur. There appear to be a lot of subsets of BFS where individuals have a common group of symptoms. I'm curious, do you also experience excessive sweating of the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet? Do you have ear ringing or brain fog?

skonen, I also have brain fog and ear ringing. Both started before BFS. Regarding sweating, I haven’t noticed difference; however, I feel the soles of my feet burning, as I am walking on coal. A steady body position also brings tremor and shakiness...

I'm not sure I know my feet do sweat but that's always when wearing shoes and socks which I have to do because they care sways cold even if sweating. My hands only seem to sweat when I'm nervous. They are always cold too. Gotten forgetful and had ringing in my ears which came on gradually and became constant. It's practically gone now but I have taken antibiotics for possible Lyme. All my symptoms disappeared or nearly disappeared, I'm left with the ratcheting and body facilitations and some slight pains.
