Left Arm Trembling with Groceries

Well I was doing fine this summer and today like I was carrying some groceries back home and i realised when I was holding a pop 2 litre bottle on my hand and when I lift it up around my should height my whole yes whole *beep* left arm was shaking like crap. I tried the same thing on my right arm nothing just fine. I dont feel any weakness holding the bottle up the tremors scares me a lot as I did not have this before. There goes my long weekend and will most pb head to the GP on Tuesday. :(

I'm no expert but that sounds like essential tremor or postural tremor or something like that. In other words, nothing that will kill you. I've had that come and go. Really nothing to worry about.

I've had that a number of times after stressing my arm. If it continues over the weekend (which it probably won't), nothing wrong with a trip to the doc.To have a true test, do not stress your arm in any way for a couple days. If you do self testing or other stressors you can definitely expect it to continue regardless of what it is.Enjoy your weekend - no sense in worrying about a one day symptom. 12 years ago I had a migraine so bad I couldn't feel the entire left side of my body. I also went blind for about 6 hours. Would've freaked out if my dad didn't tell me he had a few of those in his life (and he is 70). Next day I was drained but fine. Even went to wok at my normal time.

Don't worry about the tremors. I have had those from time to time but they are harmless. It could be due to essential tremors or its possible you overworked that arm a bit without realizing. Then by exerting it in just the right way it results in some shaking. I know if feels weird and can be scary when already in a state of heightened anxiety but its not an ominous sign of anything sinister. Just try to relax and it will subside eventually.

I have been plagued with tremors, they do get better and are harmless just like Johnny said. Excersise helps alot, I don't notice them near as much as I did in the begaining. But a few weeks ago we got a baby boy in, and I held him in my left arm for about 15 mins and when I let him go it kicked in for some reason, I just tried to ignore it and it went away after a few hours. My Neauro said they are essential tremors and nothing to worry about.Just another one of the lovely friends that BFS like to bring along to the party....

Happens all the time to me. Just screwed up nerves. Don't let this stuff rob you of your weakend. Its just you and BFS getting acquainted :D) You are okDD

I have had this for more than 4 years, especially arms. Its essential tremor which presents exactly the way you described it, if the muscle is being used and sometimes only in certain positions..arms are the most commonly affected muscle groups.

Thank you all for the reply and very happy to receive support from my fav posters here in BFS! Today I could not helpt and took my mountain bike which weight really a ton compare to other mountain bike and I just had to lift it with my left hand only. I did notice tremors but it was no where at all that horrible when i was holding the 2 litre bottle. So it relaxed me a lot. Oh yeah In Canada cycling in the heavy wind is pure madness! Never in my life I encountered going down a steep slope against the wind that my cycle completely stopped!!! I even had to paddle on a steep slope! i home now I feel like i have beaten up by a wrestler. Thanks guys I wish you all a blessed weekend with your family!

Wanderer, have you tried small amount of alcohol - beer or two or glass of wine? It does help for essential tremor. Not for all patients, for me just partially but you can give a try.

TD I havent drank alcohol over 2 years but now that you mention it back in 2001 I remember I was in Singapore and I was having problems whenever I was around people and if I smiled I had a lot of tremors and it was really getting annoying lucky back then I think google still was not around so I did not bother to google or anything and I went to the doctor and he gave me some medicine I wish I remember that name also I remember my mom got a gift from her boss some red wine and since I heard it was suppose to be good for the heart I tried it. And in a week I did notice a lot of improvements in my tremors in fact I did not have any face tremors at all. Ill try to get a red wine and see how it goes I hate beer awful. Thanks again TD!

Glad I could help, hope those who say I am only scaring people here will read your post.Yeah, if you do not like beer, continue with the wine, just do not increase the intake :D) Essential tremor is NOT an excuse :D)
