Lamotrigine and the PNHE Study

is LAMICTAL a trade name for lamotigine? If so this anti-convulsant has the recommendation of Dr Hart, author of the PNHE study see other posts for the related web site. It has the greatest logic behind its use although responses vary. I have chosen to wait for six months of knowing the positive diagnosis before trying this and will useonly if there is still a great deal of interference with daily activities.

Hi
i have just been given gabapentin to try and rid me of chronic foot pain, as i am having problems standing on my feet. My Doctor is also going to refer me to yet another Neuro, so i hope he can help with this Sh*** condition.

I will let you know how this drug works out.
Good Luck

My neuro has me taking a anticonvulsant no one else has mentioned - Topamax. Like all of them it has its side effects and risks, but as I posted a week or so ago, the exhaustion from seldom sleeping as a result of such extreme twitching had to be addressed. He wants me to give it a month when I get to 100mg to see if there is improvement. If not, we will try tegretol. I was glad to hear that he is not just going to give up on me.

when I started twitching about 6 years ago, neurologist had me try Neurontin. I think it seemed to help a little bit, twitches did not go away, but seemed a little better than before.

and then a couple years after that I started having seizures(3 in 2 months), so neurologist put me on dilantin for seizures, and kept neurontin as well since its an "add on" to anti-seizure meds.

I think dilantin also helped a litte, I still take both of them. I still twitch, but I don't think quite as bad as when it first started.

I have never had any bad side effects from either of them. well I guess I kinda did, dilantin level got too high once, because I stopped taking a multi-vitamin, and the multi-vitaman lowered dilantin blood levels. so when I stopped taking it, dilantin level went up. and then I was sleeping most of the day, and always so tired. so doctor lowered the dilantin dose, and I have been fine since then.
