MY KNEES HURT, THEY BEND FINE BUT STILL FEEL LIKE THEY ARE STIFF SOMEHOW.ANYONE EVER DEAL WITH THIS AND DID YOU EVER FIND ANYTHING TO HELP????Thanks for letting me ventRobynn :D)

Hey i can finally offer you a little assistance, you remember where you live right, the midwest. I bet if you watched the weather close enough you would see that a lot of your joint pain and stiffness comes when cold fronts move in and out, the barometer is not our friend especially if you have any arthritis and are more in tune to the body than most, (whick i think is a fair assumption to all of us on this site.) I do have a suggestion that has helped me with the joint aches and stiffness and it is actually called joint juice. i forgot what the ingredients are but someone has posted it here before, it doesnt help twitches but i find it very beneficial for this time of year for the joints. hope it helps, it does take a couple of weeks to work though. take care,BW

So you have had the joint pain, like ankles and knees?? I know I dont have arthritis but this is giving me a preview of what it will feel like when I do develope it. Thanks for the suggestion on the joint juice, I will be looking into that.Take CareRobynn :D)

i too get knee and ankle pain in my left leg.sometimes i have to grab the ankle and pull it up to my butt so i can strech the thigh muscle out.have also been going to an Ostiopath so that they can massage my problem musles. This drives us insane :( have been trying magnesium supplement for a couple of weeks but cant say it has worked.

Thanks for your response Steve, both my knees are affected but the rest is in my right ankle, and yes, this can drive you nuts. Sorry you are having it as well. I tried magnesium a while back and cant say it made any difference at all, just tore up my stomach  Thanks againTake careRobynn :D)

i do get the knee and ankle pain, i have arthritis in my right knee because of injuries so i have a referance point and since the twitch fest i get the same kind of achy pain in the left knee and left ankle as well. I do feel the thumper twitch sometimes right above the left knee at times and maybe that is why the knee hurts but i will say that it seems like weather plays a factor. I also do the rub the ankle up all day sometimes as it seems to make it feel better. but the juice does help, it just takes a while for it to work its way into your system. I hope it helps.

Sorry you are feeling bad Robynn. I have bad knees, but more due to too much squash ( I think), rather than BFS. So cant sympathise. Could the cold weather be playing part? If it is BFS, as with all things BFSish..they should move on...eventually. cheersRodgerPS hot one here as well today- 38 degrees C and more ( ie over 100 degrees F)

I dont think it has much to do with the weather, as I dont get out much rite now, but you never know with this stuff, its so weird and theres seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I'm sure it will pass, I hope  Thanks for the weather update Rodger  We are supposed to hit 70 degrees here this weekend but by Thanksgiving this coming Thursday, we will be lucky to get out of the 30's. They always say if you dont like Indiana's weather, stick around for a few hours and it will change  Take care my Aussie-buddy :D) Robynn :D) o

Thanks DD, I know you have had a hard time with this as well, so I will take what you are saying to heart. Thanks for responding to my post. :D) Take Care DDRobynn :D)

sure. I was walking and riding a stationary bike and my legs felt better. However I got busy (and my feet started to hurt worse) so i took a few weeks off and now my legs/body are KILLING me. Plus my circulation is worse. have to keep trying.DD

Robynn,Do you experience stiffness often? Has your doctor ever mentioned Isaac's syndrome to you. The condition's symptoms are almost the same as BFS but associated with chronic stiffness. Like BFS, I'm not sure there's really anything to remedy the symptoms, but I've heard some meds help. Something to explore with your dr if you haven't already.Hope you're feeling better...

No MP, I never talked to him about Isaac's Syndrome. I dont have that I'm sure. My legs are stiff but not to the point of not moving and theres alot of things that can cause this kind of stiffness I have, its mostly in my knees and calves and thats pretty common with this BFS stuff. Isaacs is pretty rare, and an EMG can usually pick up on some characteristics of it, and I dont have any of the hard core symptoms that people with Isaacs get, so I'm pretty sure I dont have that. But thank you for responding and I hope you are hanging in there ok.Take CareRobynn :D)

Heya Roblynn, please know that I was by NO means implying BFS + stiffness = Isaac's syndrome. You're right, there's a host of things that cause stiffness, including just living. I thought since you posted your concern a out it on the forum, you felt it was related to BFS. Stiffness just isn't one of the many things I've experienced with whatever it is I'm dealing with. Personally I don't like the term BFS because it puts us all in one group and there are numerous other conditions that cause peripheral never hyperexitabilty. I guess I'm just not convinced we're all dealing with the same thing so I continue to look for answers, probably to my own detriment. My other DDx that my neuro gave me aside from BCFS included late exposure to toxicity and restless leg syndrome. Of course when I asked her why restless leg syndrome when my symptoms are diffuse, she didn't have an answer. When drs see a normal EMG, MRI of CNS, and blood work, you get the BFS Dx, which is the same thing as, "I dunno." And unless we force our drs to explain why it's not something else, the other conditions that cause perpherial nerve hyperexcitabilty are still on the table as far as I'm concerned. That's just my perspective, tho.It would be interesting for this forum collect statistics on why people leave it. Is it because people later receive another Dx, twitching resolves, no longer require the support, etc. This forum has been around since, what, 2002. Why isn't it choke with hundreds of active users as oppose to only few? The forum seems to be laden with cohorts of users that change over time. Where are these BFSs going? Sorry...I'm ranting now (not at you) probably because I'm frustrated. I hope whatever is causing your stiffness clears up.

Its not choked with thousands of users because after 6 months it becomes clear that it is the most repetitive forum of all time. There is only so many times you can see the exact same story and the exact same fears without feeling your just repeating yourself...once you've dealt with the initial OH MY GOD I HAVE ALS anxiety that is par for the course, this forum becomes bad for you. People realize that, then either stick around and become the 'you don't have als crew' or else move on.Im pretty sure and have been told that lots of oldtimers are in contact with each other through other social networks or through email but are off this site for a host of reasons.Once you have a bfs dx and you accept it...then you slowly log on less and less(as bfs becomes less and less of a concern)...until one day you just dont log on anymore at all unless your posting a 1/2/3 yr update.

Well you are rite some people with BFS dont have stiffness, but alot of them do, just like some of them just have twitches, but several of us have twitches with sensory. This is something I would like an explanation on but doubt I will ever get one, but I wonder why some just twitch and others have twitches with a bunch of other garbage (sensory stuff)?Only because of how I feel these days with my symptoms, I truly believe a lot of the BFSers just get better and move on, I've spoke to several old posters through PM's and they just decided one day that it was time to move on and resume there lives. Some still had symptoms on a much milder level and some had made complete recoveries. There are some that left the board because of arguments that happened here on the board, and there are some that went on to have more tests and just didnt come back, I hate those ones because I dont like loose end stories but I guess thats just life on some levels.I think you are going to be fine, but I really think you should stop searching so hard for answers, it will just keep you sick longer. Sometimes there are no answers and you just have to find a way to deal with what we got and live with it or live to help get rid of it the best that we can.Ramble any time you want, no worries :D) Robynn :D)

Today has been a helluva day for stiffness and pain. Stiffness mainly in legs and hips, pain...everywhere...absolutely everywhere and it is horrible!!!

I have the pain everywhere from head to toe...the fatigue is terrible and the muscle fatigueability is dreadful.......I wish this would go away!!!

I know, and I feel for you, I really do. I've been reading alot of your older posts the past couple of days. You and I have really had it bad with the fatigue and muscle stiffness and pain, that is for sure. I really wonder why some of us are hit so hard with all this and others just have the twitching?????

I wonder if anyone else has the constant invisible twitching in their legs. I get it worse when at rest but both legs feels as if there is something moving all over the inside, this is what causes me so much pain...the constant muscle fibre movement.....
