Klonopin for Bizarre Syndrome - Feedback?

Thanks to those who replied to my first entry as a new member of this bizarre syndrome. I am trying klonopin right now (5 days) and while it has a nice calming effect seems rather useless for the symptoms. For those of you who have tried it, can you give me some feedback as to a) how long you took it, b) did you ever see any improvement? c) was stopping difficult?, and the big question, d) was it worth it? Thanks, you guys are great and I'm so glad I found you! I feel like I have people to help me thru it. Any of you live in soundsoap98 California?

The klonopin helps me. I've been on it for about 2 months and take 1.5 mg at bedtime. I have twitches and jerks, so for me it's been working well. I tried it about a year ago at .5 mg and didn't think it worked well so I stopped taking, but when the jerking started I took the pills again and increased the dosage, which I think was the key.

BFS seems to be alittle the same and alittle different for everyone, the intensity of your bfs symptoms might need a change in the mgs you take.

At 0.5 mg/night, I didn't find it helped me much besides leveling me out. I quit with no problems. I know others here who the drug has helped.

What dosage are you taking? If you aren't on a high enough dosage for you (which varies from person to person) then you might need to talk to your doctor.

By and large, if you are expecting to stop twitching, you are going to be disappointed. What you need is to mute the twitching enough to be able to sleep at night and to function without a great deal of anxiety.

i wouldnt worry about dependency unless you are taking narcotic drugs... from my experiance benzos have never caused me withdraw or dependecy. i take benzos on the weekdays at night,,, i rarely take a benzo on the weekend.. whenever i stop taking a benzo,,, nothing abnormal happens,, no withdraw nor a need for the pill,,, but i guess it depends from person to person.

whith klonopin like others have said,, you may need to find the right dose for you,,, klonopin does work well for myoclunus,, if you are experiancing your limbs jerking like a lightning bolt,, it can calm the twitches but it really doesnt work wonders for symptoms,, like i said kklonopin more or less helps you cope with BFS.. works real well for anxiety and stress which in turn calms your symtoms

Yeah, I'd try the higher dosage. I agree with 12Drifter12 in that I wouldn't worry about dependency so much with this class of drugs. Most people, when they decide to quit, just quit. Some people taper off. But this is not a big time narcotic drug.

And anyway. Dependency shouldn't be an issue right now. You need the relief.

FYI, since you quote your therapist as if his/her opinion is the final word, in fact there are a number of therapists who also believe that the majority of cases of BFS are caused by psychological problems (ie, anxiety, etc). Nothing more, nothing less! Just as with BFS, no generalizations can be made regarding individual reactions to klonopin withdrawal because to do so is inaccurate!
