Jaw Popping From Muscular Tension

Yes, my right jaw pops since the onset of this condition. My dentist checked everything out on my 6 month visit and said I had a tremendous amount of muscle tension in the muscles. I ignore it like everything else with this condition.

I've had the strangest things happen with my jaws over the past 15 months of BFS, popping in the jaws, clicking, aches and pains and excruciating pain at times. I don't have TMJ (was just at the dentist a few weeks ago). I have done my fair share of clenching and now wear a mouthguard at night.

God Bless, Mark

I think this can be caused from tension - if you clench your teeth with tension all of the time your muscles get tired. Then when you actually use them to chew they are just tired...

Thanks all - it was just so bizarre to not feel like I could even eat pasta last night....
Mark, my jaw pops also when I open wide. I've had mild TMJ for years (and it's exactly as you describe, so I'm surprised to hear that you don't have it) - but the jaw fatigue is something new to me. I think MarksmanS's assessment of the jaw clenching causing these things sounds right on target. I'll have to try to be aware of it so that I can stop doing it!
Thanks again,
Elisa
