Jaw and Lexapro: Effects to Consider

That sounds like quite the neuro - time for a new one. Watch the Lexapro as I was on it and had some strange things happen and got off of it 2 months later (my hands and fingers shook like leaves on a tree while I was on it - they still do - I almost wonder if the jaw thing isn't related to Lexapro as well).

1.) Jaw: lots of twitches, cold and heat makes it hurt more.
I get the same thing

2.) Facial twitches.
I get the same thing

3.) My muscles are very tight.
I get the same thing

4.) Joint pain and cracking.
I get the same thing

5.) Hands hurt when holding the phone to long. Tingles then start to go numb.
I get the same thing

6.) Started snoring lately, very loud. No gasping for breath.
I've always snored so again, I get the same thing (in a different sense, though).

This sounds a lot like BFS based on my own symptoms. I think you're going to be ok but you MUST take control of the anxiety otherwise, everything will get worse.

God Bless, Mark

I was so focused on that a**hole neuro you went to see I forgot to respond to some other things you had mentioned. Before I go into that I would like to add that I really feel for your experience with that doctor and if I had a neuro talk to me like that at a time in my life where I was as scared as I was, I would have TOTALLY lost it. I didn’t really like my first neuro that much but he did respect the fact that I had anxiety about my symptoms and told me he didn’t really know what was wrong but made it clear I didn’t have anything like ***. He was very focused on MS because I had lots of tingling and sensory symptoms at that time. I didn’t notice twitching until a couple months later. Anyway, we are talking about you.

QUOTE:

1.) Jaw: lots of twitches, cold and heat makes it hurt more. Always feels weird. Jaw Doc has no clue. I wear a mouth splint at night for clenching and my bite is way off. Ears pop when I talk.

2.) Facial twitches. Drives me crazy. Moves my sunglasses and hat. Sometimes can feel them when I lay on the pillow.

3.) My muscles are very tight. Feels like they are ready to cramp.

4.) Joint pain and cracking. It is getting harder to do any exercise. Pretty much work is all I can do.

5.) Hands hurt when holding the phone to long. Tingles then start to go numb.

6.) Started snoring lately, very loud. No gasping for breath. Googled it and eventually got *** of course.

Many more questions but will stop at these.

I believe I may be the exception!!!!! I cannot sleep!!!!! Help!!!!!

My answers:

1- Yes I get jaw twitches

2- Yes, that’s when I look busy when talking to someone

3- This happened to me more when my anxiety was high. I still get it sometimes

4- I have had that for a long time. Being a carpenter and drummer is some of the reason, Bfs don’t help

5- All the time!!! I am constantly switching hands when I talk on the phone. The Bfs causes my fingers to move whenever they feel like it. My carpal tunnel causes the numbness. This is a real problem for me.

6- Snoring. I snore anyway partly because I like to drink beer but I have always snored to some degree. There are a ton of reasons for snoring; I would not dig to deep into that one. You can search the web and find all kinds of reasons for that.

I am very sorry about your brother. I know what it is like. I also lost a brother, he was 29 years old. Died of AIDS.

again, you have bfs and you will be fine.

Take care,

Paul

look at the floxin...there could be a link. Either way, the twitching you describe is typical bfs, regardless of the cause.

Take care,

You are DD, trust me. It shows that you came from the board when it was more caring and supportive, it shows with every post that you make on here. I so wish the board was still like it was back then. I often go back to that time frame for support, everyone cared more about supporting and helping each other.I always tell you that you are an awesome soul because it is the truth, you are. Take care friendRobynn :D)

Must having subscribed to this thread a while back and lo-and-behold :D) . Hope all is well with everyone- I laughed at the time stamp on the original thread 2006!! where does the time go. Still twitching away here- what- 5 years now this July for me. I just had vein surgery on one of my legs last week and boy, those compression stockings really kick up the twitching. Those overactive nerves hate having pressure on them all day! Made me think of this board - that's why it was funny getting the old thread update in my mail. What's up with the board now? I know how helpful it was for me that first year and I hope that any new people out there are getting the same reassurance I did. Nice seeing that some of the "old timers" are still on here. Anyway- same-o-same-o here. Looking forward to all this Massachusetts snow finally melting and getting out for some fresh air!Shelley

Hey Shelley! Great to hear from you.I left for awhile because how negative it was and it was keeping me down. However now that I have come to terms with BFS I thought that I need to come back and try to help out.Glad you are doing so well. You were a big help to me. Thank you!The place could use you if your up to it.DD

You know- I've definitely given it some STRONG consideration over the years- coming back to at least offer my own experience with BFS. My biggest problem is that I've had a really bad time with health anxiety for...well, basically my whole life, as long as I can remember anyway. I know that being immersed in people who are totally stressed out with a health issue literally makes me sweat! Sounds so stupid because I don't know what I would have done without the people who helped me out. And, I think that many people who have left the board would say that it wasn't until they were gone for a bit that they really got on with their lives. It's a catch 22 for sure because the board needs people who've gone through those initial scary stages. That's why I pop back in from time to time to say hi but never really read much on the boards. I can't believe it's been SO long for you- I can remember when you were new to all this twitching stuff :)

Sorry to hear you are going through so much. Been there, done that. I've had widespread profuse fasciculations for nearly ten years now. Still have all of the other stuff that seems to go with it....cramping (especially insteps of both feet), buzzing, brisk reflexes, fatigue, etc. Major twitching hotspots in my thighs, chest and biceps. Went through the whole *** scare for a year or two. Had a number of neurologic exams including a couple of EMG's that reported fasciculations. In fact, one of the EMG's was marked "failed" because of the presence of profuse fasciculations. One of those EMG's also reported a fibrillation. Of course my anxiety was through the roof back in the day. Although I still have all of the symptoms (in about the same severity as it was then), I've learned to live with it all and don't even notice it most of the time. I have no idea what causes this crap, but I am happy that the fear and anxiety is nothing more than a distant memory now. Count the thousands of twitchers that have been through this and similar websites through the years. Very similar symptoms. They all seem to make it through just fine once they get past the anxiety. You will too. Take care.
