Itching as a BFS Symptom

Hi again. I know that itching is one of the symptoms in the "BFS in a Nutshell". But some days I itch alot. Mostly my chest and my back. It burns so bad when I itch it. Its not everyday, but it does happen often. Actually when I think back, I think the itching was one of my first symptoms, but I just kept chalking it up to me liking really hot shower water. Any way, can someone tell me how common this is or should I be seeing someone for it? Is there anything that has helped with it, that anyone else has tried? Thanks again for any responses. :)

Robynn, when this first started for me I noticed along with the twitching a lot of itching on my upper back and abdominal areas especially when I worked out. That has eventually subsided until the heat of this summer. For some reason my calves and back seem to itch the most so I keep the lotion handy especially after showers and even sometimes during the day. I am not sure what causes this but I am betting the heat has a lot to do with it and of course sweating. Hot showers also cause dry skin my Dr. told me to take luke warm showers to avoid this. I do think the exercise induced itching is somehow BFS related but I'm not sure how, Just use a good moisturizer and see if it helps. Mary

BFShopeful, then why is itching in the BFS in a Nutshell list of symptoms?? Oh wait I forgot, we all have anxiety disorder and depression, not BFS.

I thought we already established that you werent going to respond to my post anymore already and here you are again, blaming anxiety for another symptom that I was asking others about, a symptom that is clearly stated on the symptoms list for BFS. So who is the ignorant one. This isnt an anxiety forum its a community, got it figured out yet, you've been on here how long. And I've read some of your older post and you had several worried questions yourself, so..get off my back, you have done nothing but judge me and insist I need drugs to deal with my situation, a situation you do not really understand. I gaurantee if you went to your next neuro visit and they said "hey your reflexes are very brisk and now you have ankle clonus along with your twitches" your stress level would go through the roof and you would be on here looking for whatever reassurance you could get. So let me get mine, and if you dont want to be one of those people then ignore my post. I'm not ignorant, stupid, or crazy, I'm quite sound these days considering my circumstances.

ML, to answer your question. Yes I get that itching thing heaps, almost everyday .Seem to be scratching all over-even more than my dog! Head to toe. Scratching my head as I type! Reckon it might be related to this nerve hyper-sensitivity thing that comes with BFS. Haven't worked how to deal with it, other than to do something to distract me.As an aside, I think a lot of us have the same issues, that is why we come to this site, for support and giving support. I would hope that everyone (and I include my self of course) keeps that in mind when posting. cheers/stay wellRodger

Thank you so much Aussie, and I'm sorry you have the itching so bad, I hate it, and have claw marks on me constantly. Let me know if you come across anything that may help. I think I'm going to try an antihistamine for it today and see if that helps any, cant hurt I guess. I came to this site for support and to find out about what I was dealing with, I thought this was were I should be for what all I had going on, and I've made some good friends here, but apparently I've ticked some people off as well, I'm sorry for that, it was never my intention when I joined.Thank you MSM and Aussie for responding.
