I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia just prior to bfs.
I don't know if anyone knows if there is a correlation, but I will tell you that I don't have fibro. All of my symptoms are caused by bfs. I never had the tender points of fms, or the sleep disturbance for the most part. I generally sleep very soundly.
They could be two different presentations of the same syndrome, who knows?
I will say that fms is sort of a trash can dx for some specialists when they need an explanation and can't find one. Such was the case with me. Two doctors who treated me didn't ever consider bfs, even though my symptoms were not at all consistent with true fms. I had pain, but not in the normal places. My symptoms were weakness, tingling, tremors and twitches (though I barely ever mentioned twitching because I was so fixated on MS.) It was only after I found this board that I realized I'd been twitching quite severely all along, and even sporadically for many years!
Once I told me regular doctor what I thought I had, he said "I think you are absolutely right," and he admitted to only having one other patient with bfs in his whole 25 years as a doctor.
