Improving from Twitching, Buzzing, & Pain

Hi AllFirstly I'd like to start off by saying that I have been doing much better lately. The reason for this is my twitching isn't as bad and neither is the buzzing etc, although I still get these at times and some pain in toes and left arm.I had a neuro visit in early March and he had said that he doesn't see any reason to do further testing. He said ALS is VERY RARE and even more so below the age of 50 and with twitching all over it's more likley benign. He also said MS highly unlikly with a clean Brain MRI. I'm really tring to believe that!! I'm starting to feel a bit better because my friends have been twitching lately and have showed me!! I couldn't beleive it when I saw. I think that maybe some people just twitch more then others and when you become aware of it you twitch more. Also many people on this board have made me feel so much better and I would like to thank them for their help. However today I have another question, I was told that I had Benign Postional Vertigo after about 4 days of lightheadedness and severe vertigo when turning in bed. I was fine after 4 days and so took that dx and got on with things. I have now been feeling really lightheaded again for the past 6 days on and off. It's not full blown dizzyness or vertigo but sometimes I look up and feel like I'm about to spin. It's like it's mild dizzy spells and just an off feeling. Does anyone else get this feeling at times that lasts for days? And does anyone know if Benign Postional Vertigo can cause this without the full blown Vertigo?

Yes, I have it...The first time I had it I thought for sure I was having a stroke. Very scarey. But as the word indicates it is benign. It is when little crystal rocks ride too high up in the vestibular area of the ear. The only thing that can cure it is to get the rocks back down where they are suppose to be..It is done by ear professional, sometimes ENT will do it. But I have only found audiologists are the best. They do a procedure called EPley manuever. Where they flip your head in different positions to move the rocks back in the appropriate places. If it isn't done right, the rocks willl move higher, and it will get worst.Good LuckTerri

I can only add that I have had the sxs you describe at least twice in the past 5 years. A coworker of mine however does have positional vertigo. He is OK and does well. He thinks it came from having high BP. Anways congrats with your neuro visit and dx.My wife gets twitching also in her right and left index fingers. She says I am a big baby. Yeah but she does not get cramping. Oh, she does. But when she does I am unhappy

Hello Dawn!I was also diagnosed with Benign Positional Vertigo many years ago. Have had a couple of episodes which were successfully treated by my ENT specialist. Dawn, I dont know if it is related but I too sometimes have the dizzy feelings not full blown vertigo but I do experience what you describe.Kind regardsSandra

Hi Dawn: I was diagnosed with positional vertigo in my thirties. I have only had 4-5 episodes in that time. This past year, I had two long spells with it, the most recent in January of 08. I am having no problems now, but you never know. I do believe that anxiety will aggravate it, as I have had considerable difficulty with that this past year. Hopefully, any episodes you have will be brief and mild. Yes, it can give you a light-headed, not really room spinning, dizziness. Best WishesCindy

Thanks for the further replies guys, I hope it is just benign vertigo, it's been going on for 8 days now on and off and it's really worring me but then that's anxiety for ya!

Dawn, my last episode went on for a long time like that. See if your doc will give you a script for Meclazine. It's just an antihistamine, but it is really helpful with positional vertigo. Actually, I believe it is the active ingredient in motion sickness meds, like Dramamine. Check it out at Walmart and see. If so try that, it may help---certainly won't hurt Cindy

Thanks Cindy. We don't have a Walmart here, I'll have a word with my doc though.Do you ever still get worried about it? My last bout of vertigo fitted the description of Benign positional vertigo because it was mainly when turning in bed that I got it but this bout is just a light headed sort of off feeling with mild dizzy spells at times. Is this normal with BPV?

I was just looking back through old posts. I have Benign vertigo about 12 years ago. I got the full room spinning when turning over in bed. Then, the lightheadedness feeling lasted for weeks. I have had it a few times since. Last night, I turned over in bed and it was back--the spinning. Today I am not spinning but feel like my balance is off. I hope it does not last too long. It is a yucky feeling. Are you feeling better?
