Ignoring Abdominal Pain Until Unbearable

I Recently i got a bad pain in my right upper abdominal area, some time ago i would have checked mr google and found plenty of reading material and rare diseases that could cause this and ignore the common ones. This time i said i won't go that route and just do what any normal dude would do, ignore the problem . I ignored it for a few weeks until it kinda got unbearable. I still didn't check dr google, i just went to the doc and told her my symptoms and she sent me for an abdominal ecography. I'm so glad i didn't check google, it turned out to be some sand in my right kidney and meteorism (that's a fancy way of saying farts :)). I just spared me a month of anxiety over some potential cancer or other stuff when the symptoms were caused by meteorism. The doc gave me some digestive meds, told me to drink lots of water and kicked me out of the office. What's your reaction to new symptoms, you check the google specialist or try to think of the most common causes first?

My new symptoms are always more twitches, a new pain in a limb, stiffness maybe(??), was that a cramp??? or start of one??? I fall back on my clean EMG, my strength is still here - nothing has changed; maybe walk on my toes for a while, go for a run, unbutton and rebutton my shirt with one hand, sit on the ground and get up wo hands, silly things like that. Then divert my mind to something pleasant. But never google.

I have made a belated New Years Resolution to ban anxiety to the best of my ability! Guess what my job is? I analyze medical charts and review the symptoms, prior diseases, procedures or surgeries done, tests done for diagnosing. Because i work for a hospital, I usually see some very sad, scary stuff. It can really get you paranoid so I have to pay extra attention to letting my mind go off in the wrong direction. You were very wise to stay away from google. My neurologist said that the internet is best used after a diagnosis, not for making a diagnosis. I have ruined many an evening doing that, so hurrah for you!
