Hyperthyroidism Found After 8 Months

Hi guys,
I posted my syptoms here last week. I've had widespread muscle twitching, aching, fatigue, diarrhea, exercise intolerance and other sx for the last 8 months.
I just had a complete thyroid study that shows me as very much having hyperthyroidism. My Dr. is very excited to have found a possible cause for all my sx.
Every other test that I've had has been negative. Clean EMG and the works.
Could this be it???
My blood test 2 days after the twitches started didnt show any thyroid abnormalities. Is this possible?
I've heard that you can have thyroid disease sx's for a while before it shows up on any blood tests.
Any thoughts would help.

Javens,

It is sooooooo funny you should mention this today. I was coming to the site to post my new topic on EXACTLY what you did.

I am borderline hypothyroid, with hashimotos thyroiditis. I have know this for 30 years. But recently I had noticed some wierd stuff going on within my throat, and had it checked out. They found a nodule and prescribed synthroid. It was soon after I started taking it when the twitching started. So, I immediatly stopped. My Dr. said there was NO WAY this was a side effect, and had nothing to do with my thyroid. BUT, after speaking to a few people on healthboards.com forum, they have concurred that some of them have had twitching brought on by thyroid conditions. I told my endo, but he said "no way". But, I think he is wrong! It may not be the cause, but it's worth checking out. I started on .15 mg of ARMOUR today (organic version of synthroid) My TSH level was at 7, but all other tests fell within normal ranges. I also have developed 2 smaller nodules since last seen. He told me to take this medicine for a few months and we will see if anything changes.

I have since read that a person can have "normal" blood tests and have a thyroid condition, or can fluctuate between hypo and hyper thyroid.

What do you think?

Kim
