Horrifying Experience at Royal London

Well, I went to the Royal London hospital on Wednesday to have my Ulnar nerve "decompressed". I would like to add that that is the WORST hospital I have ever been to!!! They should be ashamed about the care they offer there!!!!!There was no before or after care. I was stuck in a room for hours until they were ready for me and I came round in a small room, really confused due to the anesthetic but they moved me 5 minutes later.....to a store room as they were short of space!!!!! I was then left there until I felt well enough and went home. No one came to check on me, no one came to tell me about discharge and no one came to tell me about my dressing etc.I came round at 4pm on Wednesday afternoon and since then I have had the most violent hiccups imaginable. I actually feel worse than when I went in.....Hiccups for 2 days is not right...is it?

Wow! Sorry about your bad treatment. Hope it solves whatever problem it was causing. About the hiccups--I don't think 2 days with nonstop hiccups is a good thing. I don't know that it is necessarily bad, but maybe you should call your doc and ask. Can't hurt. Becky

Ugh. A similar thing happened to me once at an over-loaded small hospital during a busy holiday. You really need a friend with you when going to any hospital just to look out for you! It is similar, I'm sure, to how our pets feel when we take them to the vet - the not knowing what the heck is happening. Except somebody actually seems to care about them.Oh, I used to get non-stop hiccups and it can easily pass from comical to pain after hours of it. You diaphragm is out of beat with your heart - if you can do some controlled breathing with your lower chest slightly arched on pillows you may be able to get them back in sink. Breathe in slow & full, hold your breath a bit, then breathe out slowly using your muscles to compress your diaphragm. Relax as much as possible - no talking or wiggling. It may take a while but it is better than hiccups! Hope it works for you.
