Hi folks. First, a quick history:
37 year old male. Began twitching 9 months ago. Like everyone else, did search of internet and proceeded to be a nervous wreck for the next couple months.
Couldn't take the anxiety any more and went to my primary care physician about 7 weeks after twitching began. He examined me and said it wasn't anything serious. Said he could refer me to a neuro if I wanted, but didn't think it was necessary.
Ten more weeks go by and I'm still a nervous wreck, so I ask to see a neuro (this is now July). The neuro examines me and says it's benign; no signs of any disease. But just to cover the bases, he schedules an EMG. Had the EMG in August, and everything is clear. Since he didn't see a single fasciculation during the exam, he wasn't even willing to diagnose BFS.
Since then I've learned to ignore the twitches for the most part, and I'm not consumed by fear any more. Well, at least most of the time.
I lift weights and exercise; I haven't experienced any loss of strength.
So, my question is: when can I stop worrying that it's a serious disease? If I've been twitching for 9 months with no loss of strength and a clean EMG, should I be able to rest assured that I'm ok?
Thanks!
