High CPK - Do You Twitch?

When blood is drawn for CPK - you should make sure that you do not exercise for about 48 hours up to the bloodtest. If you exercise it will make the CPK higher. Maybe your doctor told you this ?

I had a CPK-test done and the number was about 1.000. I was very upset about this. I then had it retaken three times later and it was around 120.

I notice that kind of buzzing tremor when I am stressed and twitch at night during sleep (my wife tells me) more so when I am overtired. I have fasculations kind of through my body, especially if I am more tense. However, I have the fascic. more predominant in my arms/hand as I extend and contract my arms (more in the right). If I am not stressed or not thinking about them, they are not noticed much by me. After reading replies on this web it felt to me like BFS. I have no pain or loss of strength and I am in a gym 3 days a week doing some weightlifting.

I had done some exercising in the days before the test. The doc had not said anything, but I think I exercise more than many people (I have for many years so it is a part of my routine). I have another CPK test scheduled in 10 days so I will hold off on the gym. The reason I was thinking the elevated CPK had occurred was because in the weeks before test, I had changed my routine to use a lot muscles I had been kind of ignoring at the gym and had some sore muscles. Thanks.

mine had been up like that even before my twitching started , just a thought ,but if u use tylenol for headaches or muscle soreness it can elevate it. just a thought :D)

CPK stands for creatinine phosphokinase. CPK is a product of muscle breakdown. There are subtypes of CPK so you can tell if you are having a heart attack or its other muscles that are breaking down.

My neuro exam they took blood. CPK was normal and Dr said it's usually raised in motor neuron disease..??? Is this true ?
