High Bilirubin Levels: My Story

Our season is done and I just went to my general doc yesterday, and a neuro today.First the regular Dr.Of course he didnt offer much help because it's not his area. He did look at my bloodwork from the previous Dr. and wanted to re-test my Bilirubin levels because they were high last time. He also got me in with a neuro today which was very nice of him to have them get me in asap. More on the bilirubin in a minute...Today the Neruo: I went to a local Neruo today, who brought me in his office, asked me about the twitching I've been experiencing and said doesn't sound like anything abnormal, but we'll take you back for an exam anyhow. Went back for the exam, which was pretty short, but he tested reflexes, and strength, all appeared to be fine. He mentioned the high bilirubin on my bloodwork as well but I don't think he mentioned anything about twitching. After the exam we went back to his office and he said, you seem to be normal, but for your own peace of mind and to be squeaky clean we can do an EMG next week if you'd like. Unfortunately I don't have the best insurance, and will be out of town next week, so i told him thanks, but for now I suppose I will continue to monitor for any changes.Back to the bilirubin. The general doc called today and said the levels remained high, which means I have Gilbert's Syndrome. My question for you all is... Does anyone know if muscle twitching can be a result of Gilbert's Syndrome.? Does anyone else have this condition and experience muscle twitches?Hopefully I wont need to return for that EMG, I have been twitching pretty good the last few days, but Im hoping it settles back down. Thanks in advance for all responses and hope all is well with everyone- Cap

Sounds like you got good news as far as any nasty stuff goes! Your neuro didn't seem too concerned. I believe there are a few people on here that have Gilberts. You can use the search on this forum and find the posts. I don't know much about it other than people with it have to watch for toxicity because their bodies can't metabolize some things (I could be totally off base here, so don't quote me on this). I'm glad to hear everything went well for you :D)

Hey cap, congrats on a good with the neuro it all sounds good...I have gilberts disease too..and someone started a post about it and there's a few of us on here with it...don't know if it has much to do with twitching..I can't eat a lot of greasy food or I get yellow eyes and it upsets my stomach and causes diarrhoearh...hope that's how you spell it...anyway some people with gilberts have trouble metabolizing fats...it's not a serious disorder, my six children all have it too....hope that helps...shannon
