Guys, I need your urgent help. I have been on cymbalta (SNRI type of antidepressant) and have feilt very good for around 11 months. But I have gained around 16 kilos since January 2011. Although I tried to do some diet and exercise intensively, I could not lose weight at all. Besides I have kept putting on. Today, I read some stories about Cymbalta and saw a large number of complaints about weight issue. I am thinking to cut it but withdrawal symptoms are terrible even if I have tried to taper it gradually. Is there any other person here who put on weight while on Cymbalta or any other antidepressants. I was a handsome and fit boy and now I am obess. Is there any suggestions? I read that some people mix cymbalta and wellbutrin and they start losing weight immdeiately? Any thought about it?Can

Yes! That's exactly what I was going to recommend. When I went on Lexapro a few years ago (I am not currently on it) - I gained 10 pounds in about 2 months. I'm a fairly slim person by nature, and haven't gained only maybe a max of 5 pounds (except for when I had my children, of course) since high school. So, I went running to the doctor in shock over this. She put me on Wellbutrin in addition to my Lexapro and I lost it all plus more.I highly recommend it. Wellbutrin did nothing for me psychologically, but it counteracted the Lexapro weight gain.Check it out.Mitra

Hey MitraThanks alot for your response. Can I ask you, what is the dosage of cymbalta and wellbutrin at present? Was there any increase in your twitches after adding wellbutrin to your medication??

I never took Cymbalta, just Lexapro. And ... sigh... I didn't twitch back then! No clue if it would affect twitching or not. But, it did help with the weight I gained from Lexapro. Like I said, I had never gained a size since high school, so it was a shock that I gained 10 pounds like that. And, I hadn't changed my eating or exercise.Mitra
