Help for Left Shoulder and Forearm Pain

Hello,I have found this site to be immensly useful. A little of my back story. 30 year old male here, was having left shoulder pain about 3 weeks ago, then it jumped to the top of my left forearm, just the top, about 6cm down from the elbow, very tender to touch, and I was having problems opening my hand, closing is no problem. I used Dr. Google and of course ALS came up. Went to the chiro, he did some strength test where he would press against my hands, have me press back, that sort of thing, all came back normal. He evaluated me and said he thought it was a compressed radial nerve, did some adjustments, and actually a few days later the top of the arm is fine. I do have some what I will call stiffness when moving my hands (left and right) sometimes, but I can still raise my hands and whatnot normally, use all my fingers. I can stand on one foot on both sides, hold myself up using one arm on both sides, but since I read about ALS I have been having fasciculations all over my body, sometimes I can see them, sometimes I can just feel them. I've had them in my shoulders, biceps, thighs, calves, abdomen, lower back, bottom of feet, etc....Additionally my left foot, just in the achilles/talus bone (the little divot behind your ankle) area has been feeling weak, along with parasthesia in my feet at times. This all started right after I went to the chiro and was in the throws of researching ALS signs and symptoms. Then last night I woke up in the middle of the night I had some fasciculations in my lower right thing and it felt heavy to move, but after using it a few times it went right back into normal strength and has not been a problem since, as a matter of fact I went and worked out today, didnt trip fall or stumble a bit.I guess I am just new and looking to alleviate or confirm fears, and seek some advice. Your thoughts? And thanks in advance and thanks for this forum! I have learned a lot from it, but even though you read it a ton, you still want to hear what other people think.

sounds like typical bfs, but you should probably visit a doc just to confirm there isn't anything else going on. glad you found this site, and welcome!Take care,Gary

Hey Jesse!Welcome to the wonderful, crazy, (sometimes scary), world of BFS! I'd like to congratulate you, on being totally "BFS Normal"! Every single symptom you just mentioned, has been mentioned hundreds of times before right here! I agree with Gary, if you have a family doctor, call and let him/her know what's going on...however, I am a HUGE advocate of Chiropractic care, and in all honesty, my personal opinion is, if there were anything at all to worry about, your Chiro (as long as he's a good one, and you trust him), would know...after all, misallignments causing pain, numbness, pins and needle feelings, perceived weakness, ect, is exactly a Chiro's specialty!Relax, take a deep breath, and know that the fear, is the hardest part of BFS, h*ell, the twitching is the easy part! ;) ~*~Amy~*~

Thank you for the replies. And truth be known, I am an RN student here where I live. I am already an LVN (or LPN) whichever you call it in your area. And when I googled my symptoms in and ALS forums came up, suffice to say, i was scared to death. I dont know what I would do if I had that disease. I do know that I have read a lot and checked on it, and when I asked my question at the ALS forums they referred me to this place. I spent days reading everything, and then the next day a new symptom would pop up, I have learned a lot about ALS from this place as well. I do have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday, and the Chiro on Monday. So I hope to get this sorted out. I must admit fear is the worst part, even though you read things and get assurance, as soon as a new symptom pops up, or things aren't fixing themselves, you always think that "Oh no it must be ALS". I hope to get scheduled for a nuero appt and to get an EMG. Thank you a lot for helping me alleviate my fears somewhat, they are still there of course, but not nearly as bad as I was 2 nights ago.
