I haven't had such a long-lasting hand twitch in a while. I need someone to talk me off the ledge. My right thumb is tapping like it's hitting an imaginary space bar non-stop today. It is very disturbing. I am freaking out. It is especially bad if I tap my fingers. Is this Hoffmann's? Yikes!!Becky

I have had that in both thumbs. Usually lasts a day or so and then dissapears. I wore a carpal tunnel wrist support once for it and that seemed to help. No worries though, it is nothing to be concearned with. I am about to post a 2 year update that I am sure will make you feel better.

That has nothing to do with Hoffman sign (which is pathological reflex elicit either by Hoffmans or Tromner way and which does not occur on its own), its just twitch in thenar area which is pretty common even in non BFSers.

I can't seem to make it stop. It is very aggressive and different than anything I have experienced so far. Even if I sit on it, it does that little tap motion. What is going on? Total panic. I thought I was good after 2 1/2 years, but it looks like i can still get freaked out.

I get this too. Thumbs, pointer, index, ring and pinky...both hands!! They jerk up, jerk down, wiggle side to side and any other way they can possibly twitch. I HATE it! At my first neuro appointment, the neuro induced Hoffman's sign in my hand that is why he gave me a cervical spine MRI. All he said was it was an indicator of spinal issues, not anything sinister necesarrily. My cervical spine MRI did show a bulging disc, 3 bone spurs and a spinal cord defect, (likely born with it, or injury caused, no way to know for sure) All of these can cause twitching if bad enough, but I have had two neuros say they weren't bad enough to be causing my twitching for some reason.... go figure....j_sageurge, I see you are a saint on here...hope you don't mind if I PM you sometime?? I am a newbie, only 11 months in, so still can get pretty freaked.Tanya

Ok Bill. Laugh all you want as long as you're bringing the drinks :) I am a bit calmer now with the help of all of you. You are all saints to me. It seems that the 12 hour decongestant may have been the catalyst. The medication wore off this evening and my thumb stopped going crazy (I'm still nuts, but I've learned to embrace that  )Kisses!
