Health Anxiety, Twitchers and BFS - Causes and Solutions

Does everyone agree. It appears to be underlying issues with all the twitchers and bfs. Is it me or is it true, mostly everyone here has health anxiety. A feeling a doom and interprets the worst of every symptom. It could be ALS, cancer or anything else.

If you agree, what do you think comes first the health anxiety or the bfs.

How do you get out of the despair of always worrying someone missed something and that you only have a week to live and noone understands something is wrong.

This can and will consume your life.

Terri,
I somewhat agree that anxiety has a lot to do with it and that it does seem everyone here has anxiety. But there is strong evidence and many doctors that believe that it is autoimmune related.

I also think there are MANY people out there with BFS that don't realize it or don't care and therefore, how can you relate that to anxiety.

I just think anxiety makes you more aware of your body and what is happening to it, wich leads us to notice the twitches more as well as worry about them.

The other night, after I ran, I showed my wife how my pinky finger was twitching like crazy. She said "that's funny, I get that also, as well as other twitches". I was shocked! I told her "I didn't know you got twitches" and she replied "Oh ya, I get them a lot, I just never really thought to much about them".

I found that very interesting.

I'm convinced, although I have no proof, that about 75% of the worlds population has muscle twitches or BFS, but only a very small percentage of people focus on them.

I also read that like 60% of all doctors visits a year in the United States are anxiety related.

from time to time people pop up on this board and swear blind that they have absolutely no anxiety about this condition at all - in fact, some find it frustrating as they feel the need to be careful what they say or ask for fear of upsetting/scaring the 'what if' brigade...

i imagine that there are plenty of people twitching away out there - however the majority of them simply do not question it - perhaps they do not realise the potential implications and i daresay it never occurs to them to google - ignorance is certainly bliss :)

so yes, a lot of us here are self-confessed hypochondiacs ;), but i do not believe that bfs is exclusive to us... merely that we are more inclined to google 'twitch', think 'twitch' and talk 'twitch', along with twitching that'll be, of course...
