Had Tongue Bleeding in Sleep - ALS Symptom?

I just drifted off for a quick nap and I bit my tongue in my sleep again. This time it was really bad and it was the tip of my tongue. I actually caused it to bleed. Now I am afraid to go to sleep. I know this can be a symptom of ALS and this is the third time that it has happened. Has this happened to anyone else here? It's not like anxiety can be causing it because I'm asleep when it happens. I'm afraid that my jaw is having spasms and is slamming down on my tongue...yet another symptom.

I agree that things that happen in your sleep only should not be as concerning. I also know from experience (long before bfs) that if you bite your cheek you can keep biting it again and again because it is swollen and therefore throws off your normal mouth's function.

Mario...do you think it's possible that I'm so worried now about biting my tongue when I go to sleep that my anxiety about it is actually causing me to do it. It is the last thing I think about before I go to sleep. Like today, I was laying down to take a nap and I was pondering over how in the world my jaw clamped down on the back side of my tongue a few nights ago. That was the last thought I remember having before I drifted off to sleep and woke up with a bleeding tongue. Do you think I could be dreaming about it and then doing it subconsciously. I do believe that if it were indeed due to ALS that my tongue would barely be able to move and that I would be biting it all day long, especially when doing something like sneezing. I have, however, read of a person where that was his only symptom. UGH...I hate this!
