GPs Visit: Muscle Twitches and EMG

I went to my GP the other day just to let her know how I'm doing. My twitches have decreased a lot since they started 3 months ago but they reappear with a vengence when I'm stressed. Anyway, I have an EMG schedueld in 2 months which I requested. I asked my doctor why she didn't suggest that I have one. She smiled and told me that the clinical exam she gave me showed no signs of weakness etc. She said that twitching by itself is NOT indicative of any patholgical disease. She continued to say that nearly everyone has twitches but NOT everyone notices them. People who do notice often get anxious which causes the release of adrenalin in the body. She said that this adrenaline attaches to muscles receptors throughout the ENTIRE body and can cause a twitch. On the lighter side, she proceeded to tell me that she had just returned from a doctors' conference (which she said she finds extremely boring!) and she noticed some of her muscles twitching. She laughed and said she thought of me! Then she told me to go home and relax!
