GP Advice on Anxiety Symptoms

Hi GuysFirst of all I would like to fill you in on what my GP has said. I spoke to him regarding my anxiety over the twitching, buzzing, vibrations etc. He wants to try me on meds which I feel I should try. When going into detail about the twitches he said "so what, we all get them!" He also said that when he was studying he had noticed them being worse because he had learned about ALS. I have got another appointent with my neuro in March. Also my friend phoned me the other day because she noticed a buzzing in her foot, she said she would never have noticed it before but because I don't stop going on about it now she is noticing it!!Anyway, please can someone tell me what is the differnce between BFS, Isaac's and Neuromyotonia? Is the latter two bad, i.e is one fatel or disabling?

None of these conditions are fatal. There are subtle differences however not only in how the fasiculations appear on the EMG but also in the symptoms. Isaacs syndrome has an unknown cause and produces primarily limb symptoms mostly continuous muscle twitching which is supposed to look like a bag of worms. It has a tremendous amount of hand and foot spasms, increased sweating and I don't mean a little bit but a 2hour aerobic event or a hot flash gone beyond nuclear and it also has an inability to relax the muslces that spasm. Neuromyotonia is very similar and you can read about it if you look up any of ANgie's posts. The thing to remember is that ALL of these are disorders of the neuromuscular junction and it causes an increased excitability of the nerves and hence the muscles. Please also understand that BFS and BFS with cramps are also conditions that are quite real and quite benign. None of these disorders are interchangeable either. Neuromyotonia and Isaacs are recognized by neuros and most good GP's so if you have had an exam with or without an EMG and your Doc did NOT diagnose you with Neuromyotonia or Isaacs then you can rest easy that you have BFS. Most of all you can rest easy because none of these are fatal no matter how annoying they are.Kit

Hi KitThank you so much for the response. I noticed on some previous posts that your a doctor, if that's you then it's nice to have someone with your experience on the Forum.I have another Neuro appointment on March 11th, have to wait so long here!!! I am going to ask for an EMG. Haven't had one yet, had a normal exam apart from slightly brisk reflexes and a normal Brain MRI. I'm actually more worried about MS the anything and I'm still not over the fear. It's the vibration and buzzing feelings through arms and legs & feet that bother me the most. Do you experience these types of sensations?
