Got Neuro Twitches: ENT Solutions?

There are doctors who specialize in Neuro-Otolaryngology, meaning ENT but from a neuro background.

I had some nerve damage following a virus that has some similarities to bfs (read: got dem twitches). It doesn't show up on any test, isn't progressive, but does include minor weakness all down the right side of my body, including my face and throat. It does effect my swallowing and speaking in that I feel my throat tighten up sometimes when I am doing either of those things.

I did go to an ENT back when I was terrified by what was happening. He couldn't see any problem and didn't help in the slightest. Par for the course.

Wow. I've been having those IDENTICAL symptoms lately too. I know, I know, anxiet can make it bad. But this is really scary!
Let me know what you find, or if anyone's had similar symptoms.

Just curious: Do you use any sort of inhaler? Albuterol, Advair, etc?

I had a bad attack of the bulbars yesterday, I wonder whether it was related to the fact that I was due to deliver a teaching session in the evening which very much depended on my ability to talk clearly.

The feedback I got from the lesson was that I spoke very clearly.

Could be anxiety, could be allergy even, for instance Asthma makes the airways go into spasm, so why can't the throat muscles be similarly affected.

Thanks for your replies. Shannon, to answer you question, I use two inhalers regularly. Albuterol and QVar (steriod inhaler). I don't think this is asthma related since I've been asthmatic since childhood but who knows? The only thing that is good that I can say is that it's not worse than it was. However, at this point, I'm really tired of worrying about all of it!!
