Getting Over Globas Anxiety

I have posted here a couple of times and you may see a pattern, i twitch like everyone and have had all the same symptoms and fears but i can't seem to get rid of the Globas feeling. I truly am moving on and accepting the diagnosis but i can't seem to get a full week away from the Globas crap. I have quit taking xanax for the most part and only take the occasional ambien when i can't seem to sleep and i do take a prilosec for acid reducing so my question to the group is has anyone found a drug that will help when the Globas takes over. I am going on month 7 of constant facs had all the emg's and neuro exams to make me believe that its BFS, but i will go 3 or 4 days feeling good then i will get 3 or 4 days of the globas. I have noticed in the past that i will feel a vibration on the front muscles of my neck and i am wondering if that is causing some minor fatigue or if it puts my saliva in over drive, but i wish my twitching would get worse if i could get rid of this Globas feeling. The neuro did mention Konoplin but i have heard its very addictive, if enough people say it works i guess i will roll the dice because i am losing this battle. Thanks for the any help.BW

Klonopin will help alot, but YES it is addicting, it is a personal choice on that one, as to which one bothers you more. I had a lot of problems with Globus when I was in the thick of all this, and it does suck and it prevented me from eating for a while because it just didnt feel like things would go down, they did of coarse but it sure would aggravate it , even taking a drink of cold water would make mine worse. Relaxing your thoughts and muscles is the only way to help this symptom IMO, but if you really cant do that then maybe you should give the Klonpin a shot, because it will help you relax. If you do go that route, be sure you take the smallest amount necessary to calm yourself. They generally like to start people on 0.5 mg once to 3 times a day, but I was told since I've never taken anything like that for me to break the 0.5 mg tablet in half. Let us know what you decide and how its going.Take CareRobynn :D)

Had globus for about 4 months when this all started. All anxiety. It's gone now, and has been gone for about 2 months. how to get rid of it? I noticed I was carrying alot of tension in my face, so trying to relax several times a day. Byut the single biggest way is to stop thinking about it, and find something else to do. BTW my globus hurt clear down into my chest. I even though I had food stuck in my throat all of the time, though i was aspirating food into my lungs that is why I got a sinus infection. All ridiculous. I am fine now. Swallow fine, and not lump in the throat feeling.

thanks for the post, i know it must be anxiety but it sure doesnt feel like it. It definately helps hearing that i am not alone in my symptoms or struggles. I think i will give it another month before i go toward the med route and see if i can't kick it myself, that is probably the only long term solution anyway. I just keep thinking i can't be doing this to myself.(frustrating as hell) Thanks again to both of you.BW

meds didn't help me. They only falsely hid my feelings. I had to take alot 1-2mgs in order to feel better. You have to get over it yourself. I ended up doing this by attending a different church. It made all the difference. It's anxiety (just like the twitching is). The problem is it takes a while to get out of your system. Be patient, and be positive.

Hi,The globus thing for me, which was severe, and included excess saliva, lump in throat, post nasal drip, and difficulty swallowing, for months, was helped by one of two things or both:1) a better reflux med. for my GERD...Prilosec or nexium didnt help, it was only after 40 mg twice a day of Protonix that I was better.I needed to be on this for two months religiously. now down to one a day, one hour before morning meal. At the same time though I also had sinus problems and used:2) Astepro, a prescription nasal spray for post nasal drip and alleries once a day for a week or two. no steriods. not addicting. I tend to stay away from Klonopin/Xanax because I need to think. Best regards,Victoria
