Frightened About PD Symptoms

I was doing so well for a couple months just trying to ignore all the buzzing, burning, and jerking. Had been lurking here on the board off and on for reassurance. But new symptoms started last week and since then I have gone downhill fast. I am terrified now about PD. During this whole ordeal I have had days where my arms and/or legs feel shaky, weak, and rubbery. Concerning on bad days but manageable. Then last week I tried to squeeze a clothespin with my left hand and it was very difficult and my hand started shaking from the effort. Right hand was fine. I have been in a panic since then. Then I developed a tremor in my left hand. Now I notice a tremor in my right hand as well. When I rest my hands above the keyboard (in typing position) they are shaking. If I hold either my pinkie or thumb in towards my palm (i.e., holding up four fingers) it starts to shake wildly. Last night while in bed my thumb was jerking and I was in a panic because it would rub against my index finger (pill rolling?). When I rest my hands on my desk I don't see them shaking but I feel shaking.Does this sound familiar to anyone? I looked up early signs of PD and it said tremor, general feeling of malaise, and general feeling of shakiness that can precede obvious symptoms by a few years. Has anyone gotten any info from Neuros about PD? What to look for, etc? I know we talk a lot about the other two but not PD.Thank you in advance for helping me work through this..SJT

Hi SJT-Actually tremors and BFS go hand in hand. I FIRST had tremors for several months as you describe and then the twitching started. My GP said "wow we need to have a neuro take a look at that" because I could not dial a number on my cell phone if I held it in one hand, and if I did a sit up my entire body head to toe would shake violently. I get them very badly in my arms and legs and hands. Sometimes they are worse and other times I do not notice them. But both of my neuros said that they notice most of the people with bfs have some form of ET (essential tremor). Not to worry...its all normal (well for bfs anyway). :D) Sean B.

Hi STJ, I have had buzzing and twitching, but I also had a tremor in my right pinky for a few months that just seemed to stop one day on its own. I am sure your anxiety about the tremors just makes it worse. Do you have anything you can take for the anxiety? I bet if you can get the anxiety under control the weird shakiness will improve.Hang in there. Linda

My jerking is pretty bothersome and I've had it for about a year, and twitching for 3 years. My jerks are in my fingers, shoulders, ankles and toes, to name a few. Which seem to be joint area jerks. My neuro doesn't think it's PD. The jerks have been MORE than normal lately. Which is why I'm on the site tonight. But unless I get a real diagnosis, I'm just going to keep plugging away at life, jerking and all.Pick yourself back up and keep your chin up. You'll be okay. ;)

I've had these same symptoms on and off for years. Some of them still freak me out, when they're new or have gone away for a long time and then come back. I've had BFS for years and years and, at times, the same symptoms you're having, (most of them again with my current flare). All part of BFS. Best Wishes, Denise
