Freaking Out Over Normal EMGs?

I am reading that people had 2 hour EMGS I had probably 1/2 hour EMGS 2 that were completely normal 1.5 years ago, were they just humoring me? I love that I think I know more than a neurologist by the way. but I am in the middle of a freak out after seeing a dent in my calf and I am clinging to my Normal EMGs are they all for not?

anyway, I am not going to neuro for a MONTH! he'll probably laugh at me but hey I like keeping those guys busy!

I haven't really introduced myself but all my BFS (neuro said probably BFS) started after chickenpox at age 28. at that point I CONVINCED myself I was dying and here I am still walking and talking!

You had TWO clean EMG's and you're still worried that you have something wrong?

It isn't the length that counts. God, where have I heard THAT before  Some of the people that had longer EMG's might have had "suspect" to look REAL hard and cover ALL areas of concern, just to make sure.

Remember, medicine is a "practice" and not a black and white thing. ALL doctors have their own opinions and concerns. One doctor, that might not have seen too many BFS cases, might take a much longer time to clarify that the EMG is clean to make sure it isn;t ALS, where another doctor that has seen many cases of BFS knows what to, and what not to look for. So with that, there will be differences in times and intensities of the tests. If you have alrady had 2 clean one's, you really have nothing to worry about :)

I thought eveyone was feeling bad that I had short EMGS and that's why they weren't writing back. actually one EMG was given to me by the head of ALS/MND at the hospital so I feel pretty confident in although I am going back to him in a month.

I have been feeling a lot of weakness though in my lower right leg and lower right arm. not sure if it's PERCEIVED or not but I am trying not freak since I had the clean ones before. only time will tell I guess.

thanks again for the reply
