Foot Pain and Twitching Issues

I finally made an appt. with a neuro. Not because of the twitching though. It's the pain! OMG, the arches of my feet are killing me. Strangely, it doesn't matter if I'm active or not, and in fact they hurt less when standing or moving. Anyway, I want to make sure it isn't something else, like a pinched nerve or something. Twitching like crazy today, hope it doesn't cause enough friction to start a fire! Appt. is on the 18th, I'll let everyone know if I learn anything interesting.

Have you had the foot pain checked out by your regular doctor? I've had pain in the arches of my feet long before BFS and so has my dad and others I know. It could be your shoes, posture, or something else. I have custom arch supports that help a lot.

No I haven't seen him for that yet, but I called him about making an appt. with the neuro and told him about it then. He asked me if I had fear of A%#. I said "well, a little", so he scheduled my appt. I hate to say it, but I hate my doctor. I live in a small town, somy choices are slim unless I want to drive farther afield. The neuro only comes to town twice a month. If all goes well with the neuro I will have to see someone about it. It could very well be my posture, which is not only poor, but I recently switched to a desk job where I sit for 8 hrs. Do you have any suggestions for what kind of doctor to see for this?

Well your normal doctor should be able to evaluate your foot pain and determine what action is required...referral to specialist, etc. My doctor referred me to a pediatrist, which is a foot doctor. It just sounds strange to be seeing a neuro because of ALS fears stemming from twitching and foot pain. They are likely completely unrelated, but if you need to see a neuro as the next step to easing your anxiety then do it. Back in the day I pretty much new I had BFS after finding this site, but still did the whole neuro thing for piece of mind.

I think thats it exactly J. I told myself that I'd just wait and see, but when the aching hit it pushed my patients over the edge. I'll get my piece of mind and move on. Better to just find out then keep fretting.

Good luck with your neuro appt. Maybe the neurologist is a nice one, since they were concerned (and not dismissive) with you worrying about ALS. Sorry to hear about your foot pain, it is both feet? Sorta sounds like plantar fascitis (an old friend of mine . . . ), I like John the Jet got relief from orthotics. Maybe they would help you too.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll look into the orthodics thing after the neuro. I think I've been favoring that foot because it's my hotspot. And I've been walking alot lately just to prove to myself that everything is working ok. The pain is mostly in my left foot, and i twitch 24/7 in feet and calves, both legs. But my left leg also has all the sensory issues-tingly, pins and needles.

Geez I'm a neewbie at this. About a week after that post about my feet arches killing me....it stopped. I guess I'll have to pay more attention to all the vetrans telling us that new aches and pains pop up and go. This sucks! What next?
