Follow Up Neurologist Appointment: All's Well

Just got back from a follow up appointment at my neurologist. I hadn't been there in over a year so I decided to keep the appointment. Well, nothing has changed. Passed the exam with flying colors. He said to me "I told you 2 years ago this was benign am I am still telling you it's benign, there is nothing wrong with you". Those were his words. He also said I might have this forever but it's nothing to loose sleep over. He did let me try Gabapentin cause of the sensory issues I have been having. So, I guess it's time to move on. The way it looks there really isn't anything left to worry about and really nothing else I can do but just to live with it. I feel really good about things now. I really hope the new people can look past it and just believe their doctors. If I would have done that from the begnning I would have saved myself alot of worry and grief.

Thanks Barbie- I am glad you felt reassured. I am still struggling with the "I might have this forever" part of it because its not widely known about. Alot of people say to me "I'm sure it will go away in its own tme" but in actuality maybe it won't. I am coming up on 8 months so I am guess I am still in the rough part of this.Happy New Year!Jenn

So this is good news wrapped in reality then? Yes, that darn wrapping can get you sometimes, disguising the real present. ;) After all these years with so many stupid symptoms I can honestly say that I could have done without it entirely too but hey, it could be worse and it certainly makes you appreciate what you do have working right. Great that you are coming out of the tunnel :D) Oh, the gaba - watch out for it slowing down some things you might not want delayed but maybe you can just take it a month or so until the symptoms resolve. Some people do fine on it but I am drug sensitive so even though it helped a bit I only took it for ~6 weeks and in very low doses. It did help with night spasms and let me sleep which was very welcome at the time. Good luck with it.

Thank you for sharing Barbie! So pleased to hear your neuro gave you the all clear, its always reassuring to hear things like that, to read posts like yours.

Did you think anything different Barbie!Yes the benefit of hindsight, a marvellous thing!Great to hear of the clean bill of health, hopefully we will all get the same. Now you can seriously get on with LIVING YOUR LIFE!regardsRodger

Thanks everyone! I do feel much better. I am coming up on the 2 year mark so I guess it's time to get on with life. I do like posting here though to help out the new people. When I was new I would have never pulled out of the dark tunnel I was in without the "oldtimers". If I can help someone else that makes me feel good.
