Floaters/Flashes: Experiences?

How many of you are having 12Drifter12s and/or flashes. I have been experiencing that since this started almost 3 months ago. I have had occassional floaters and flashes before but now I see them every day. I was diagnosed as long-sighted by an optician a few days ago but I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I went to check my sight cos my eyes have been feeling tired lately. And I get a feeling in my eyes that they are blurred when they are not. Kinda hard to explain. They feel tired and blurry but I still see as good as I did before. I also get a warm sensation in them sometimes during the day. Any of this sounds familiar?

I get floaters, have gotten them since I was a kid. Some time I get them alot. They are very common in all types of people. I was told they are nothing to worry about!

yep this is odd, cause myself and so many others when their BFS started, got floaters and flashes, but from what ive researched and spoke to 2 or 3 neuro's about is that floaters are not a symptom of BFS. 12Drifter12s can be caused by many things, some of those things can be caused by autoimmune conditions, the most common being MS, Fibromyalgia and CFS.

When this whole business started I found that I was getting really sore and stinging eyes, blurry vision sometimes and a feeling of pressure behind my right eye. I convinced myself it was MS but actually I think it was stress - I wasn't sleeping and getting really tired. It is much better now - I still have floaters and occasional flashing but don't worry about it too much.

If you are worried about your health you are probably really noticing these things. If these things were being caused by anything serious your optician would probably notice some form of "abnormality" when they did the eye test and refer you to a doctor. There is usually a box on the eye test form which says "Refer to GP" - if they didn't tick that then you're probably fine. :)

Good morning. I can appreciate your concern. It can get kinda scary when your eyesite is involved. If you've been seen by an optician & they have performed a full check-up, I wouldn't worry about the floaters/flashing.

I first started to notice floaters when I was your age. The more you focus on them, the more you notice them. My opthamologist told me that having the odd floater/flash is nothing to be concerned about. I have had them for 17 years and my vision is fine. During the eye exam, the Docs usually records the number of floaters that they notice as a benchmark when you have your next annual check-up. Some of my floaters are actually pretty cool! If I move my eyes really quick from one side to the next its like they are having a little race! I really only notice them when I "look" for them.

As far as the tired eye feeling goes, it could be climate related. At this time of eye up in Canada we have our furnances on in our homes and the air becomes dry. It always takes my eyes a while to get use to the change. Have you tried "Visine" eye drops?

BTW, the comments that were made earlier in this post re: CFS, FM & MS...don't give those a second thought. 12Drifter12s are very common as we age. Much, much, much more common than the previously mentioned conditions.

Sincerely,

Dale

I dont know if the floaters/flashes has any relation to the twitching, or any of the other symptoms I have either. Its just creepy when all these things hit you at one time. Maybe its age, maybe its something else. I just wish there was a test for everything but right now it feels like I have to wait and see if it kills me, leaves me disabled or dont do anything at all to me but scare me :( During that time there is plenty of things that either comes up or has been there allways that I start noticing. Like this thing: For two days now I have been doing online eye tests and I started noticing that my sight is worse on one side. Not enough maybe to be picked up on a vision exam but still worse. I also noticed that if I compare my sight by looking on a white piece of paper, the right one seems to get a slighly darker image. Again its only slightly darker but enough to make me worried. I know vision can be different on one eye but I still feel like new symptoms are popping up every month/week.
